kickbasskid Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 What works best for you? I personally like a white shad with green stripes my friend gave me a year back. I got one the first cast then lost the lure the next. ;D ;D ;D The pattern can be on a soft or hard bait. Quote
-nick- Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I'm going to have to say bluegill, but thats just because where I fish has tons of them and that color always seems to work. Quote

BassinBoy Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I'm going to have to say bluegill, but thats just because where I fish has tons of them and that color always seems to work. And that's a great reason Quote
Bad to da Bass Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Rainbow Trout if your in California Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 22, 2009 Super User Posted January 22, 2009 Bluegill if you are in Mexico Tilapia if you are in Mexico Baby bass if you are in Mexico Rainbow trout if you are in Mexico where 90 % of the bass have never seen a trout Shad if you are in Mexico where there are no shad Hitch if you are in Mexico where there are no hitch Ayu if you are in Mexico and .... guess what ? there ain 't no ayu in Mexico And the list can go on patterns that in theory imitate something and that maybe something the bass have never seen anf if fished in the right location with the right presentation will work. Infidel. Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Firetiger or Halloween We aren't talking about tossing big hammers for rockfish ;D Just go with white. It will work anywhere. Quote
Bantam1 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I would say anything with a green back and a white belly. This covers most baitfish out there. Raul said it best though because many times the color does not matter. I have caught a lot of bass on trout colored patterns in lakes that have no trout and have never seen trout. And they just happen to have a green back with a white belly Infidel- There are way better colors in Hammers than just white. Of course I will not say what colors I get bit best on ;D Quote
Infidel. Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Infidel-There are way better colors in Hammers than just white. Of course I will not say what colors I get bit best on Oh yeah I know. To be honest I stopped tossing big hammers after they started making them in China. Mostly throw MC's now and I don't think that I have a single all white one. I was suggesting all white because I don't care what part of the world you are in, what time of day it is, from slammers to hudds to triple-trout to sassy shads, all white will work. I didn't read the post that well and just took it as someone new to swimbaits wondering what color to start with. my mistake. Quote
Bantam1 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Corey makes a great bait. I like the MC stuff a lot but I'm also partial to Hammer because they are very good to me. I use both brands a lot because they are unique in their own ways. My friends and I have caught fish on the old Mexico made baits and the new China made baits. The China baits do not split like the old Mexico baits did. Its tough to produce that number of baits in CA with all the laws and taxes to be profitable unfortunately. You can almost always find Hammers and MC baits are not always in stock Quote
Infidel. Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 You can almost always find Hammers and MC baits are not always in stock True that. I aleast Longfin carries them now. I used to have to stock up down in San Diego. Sorry for the detour on this thread. Quote
