Havent seen any from Cali being reported, did see one 13 out of Fla. We may not make the top 20lb list, but we kick out just as many toads as any state. Question...how to they prove that fish was caught in the body of water the angler says? Just curious. There have been a few double digit bass caught out here in 2006 already, up to 16 pounds that I know of. We just don't have a state run program that publicizes it. Quote
Nick_Barr Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Up here in WA, you could go around with a net and pick up frozen fish like at the grocery store. Hasnt been that cold, but the water temp 41F, Maybe if you add all the ice on the fish it might top 13 lbs. Quote

Mike Long has caught a 16 1/2 a few weeks ago and last week caught a 14 1/2 and a 5lber on one cast. There have also been a bunch between 10-13 through out the state. Props to Texas for their share a lunker program. It is the best thing going. I wish Ca. did something similar. The record probably would have been broken by now if our state was run by you guys. I would love to see it broke in Ca or TX Quote

The next record most likely will not need to be justified 40 yrs from now. The current record leaves one to wonder. I have always thought that Mexico could be the next to own that record. Matt. Quote

The state that delivers the next world record bass will reap huge economic rewards so it is definitly a wise investment. It is a fair, honest way to try and breed the next world record. PS, I agree that the Perry record has to be questioned. By todays standards, digital scales, multiple verifications etc. I can't help but wonder if his fish would have stood up to the scruitany. Anyway, it is the recognized record and it will be broken. I have a feeling sooner rather than later. Interesting footnote. Ray Scott believes that the next world record will come from Zimbambwe Africa where there is a very active bass chapter and they have caught some huge transplanted florida LMB's Quote

This 15-lb. 9-oz largemouth bass was caught in a private Pickens County lake on May 3, 2005 by Jacob Ramsey from Bainbridge, Ohio. The bass measured 27" long with a 23 1/2" girth and, according to Georgia Outdoor News, ranks as the 21st largest largemouth bass caught by an angler in Georgia waters. SFC David Wardlow, of B Co. 1-306th, displays his beautiful 16 lb.-plus bass caught in Pond 33 in late January 2005, on a Trick worm. That second one came from a military reservation somewhere in Georgia. I'm thinking probably Fort Stewart's Lakes near Savannah. Quote

I don't care if its caught by a crappie fishermen. A legal catch is a legal catch. Still think the best chance of a record comes from cali, Mexico, Fla, Tx in that order. Tx southern bodies of water would have greatest chance in my book just based on winter temps if Mexico and Tx wouldn't suck the water out of it so fast. Falcon on the Mexican side allows gill netting, no telling how many giant bass are caught and eaten due to gill nets. Falcon would be ideal if not for the water usage and gill nets. Quote

But as we all know this is not how things usually work out. The chances are just as good that it will be caught by some guy fishing for stripers or peacocks or something else entirely. I just hope it's not caught by someone who fishes a couple times a year with live bait and got lucky. Quote

Just a month ago a trout fishermen caught a 14# LMB out here while fishing for stocked rainbow trout with a nightcrawler. If you think about it, it's what are sport is all about ........ fish stories. For those trophy hunters it's got to be like chasing a ghost. It's both cool and BS all in one. BTW - Does anybody have any stats on the biggest bass caught in GA beside the record? Any 20+? Just curious. Quote
