Super User Bankbeater Posted February 2, 2006 Super User Posted February 2, 2006 Not nearly enough !!! Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I really don't keep count like some others ,but I'd guess 200-300.I mean,I'm not on the Tour. It's all for the fun of it! Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 A whole lot of them. This was my best year yet, i guess my skills are improving every year. I caught my 2 biggest fish this year, and just got out more and fine tuned my presentations. Quote
cwenbass Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I would say close to 300. Pretty decent year for me considering i have only been fishing 3 years. This was my best lunker year by far. I had many over 4lbs, my biggest smallie which was over 5lbs., and had a 10lbs. when fishing the santee for 2 days. Quote
cgs2004 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Spending all summer at home with a private lake 50 feet out the back door, my numbers for the summer alone were phenomenal, but as for public access fishing, I can use more. Quote

I hear you cgs, fishing mostly small private lakes and ponds will really boost the #'s.......I'm not sure of how many I caught,I havent kept a log the past 3 years. Quote
Lightninrod Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 2005 has been my best year so far in about 30 years of Bassin'. In Feb, I caught my new PB, an 8/11 and then in Aug, I caught my current PB, a nine lber. I don't know how many but there were a bunch ;D. Many caught on my new(got it last summer) swimbait, Matt's Baby Bass ranging from 1.5 lbs to that 9 lber. Forums like this one have helped all of us for sure! 8-) Dan Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 3, 2006 Super User Posted February 3, 2006 Don't know, but caught my PB smallmouth 1/15/05 and PB largemouth 9/05/05. I also caught my PB brown trout and walley in 2005. Those four fish made my year. I don't plan on catching more fish this year, but I am trying to catch bigger bass, brown trout and walley. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 3, 2006 Super User Posted February 3, 2006 Don't know about last year. I have never made a log, but that is all changing this year. So far in '06 ............ 11 and counting ........... nothing with size though Quote
Guest avid Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 this was my first year of retirement in Florida and I fished an average of 4-5 days per week. I never got skunked in 2005. Not once. I estimate that I caught about 1200 bass last year. That includes all bass from the 6" "how did you get that plug into your mouth?" to the 6.75 lber that was the biggest in 2005. Most of my bass were about a pound and half maybe 14" long. I don't think I will fish quite as much this year, kind of like your first year of marriage if you get my drift But I'll probably get out 3-4 days per week on average. This forum has definitly helped. I'm catching almost as many fish as I was last year but they are deinitly averaging bigger. Quote
preach4bass Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Good job Avid. You give us all something to work toward! Too bad preachers never retire, we just go out to pasture (I mean pastor). ;D Quote
Rattletrap Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Lightninrod. Are you having luck on Matt's Baby Bass in Georgia? If so, Which ones and best times. BTW, I'm retired USAFRES at Robins AFB. Nice area. I did some pretty good bassin on base, but that's it. Quote
Rattletrap Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Avid. I don't think it's possible to get skunked in Fla. It's against law the isn't. ;D Quote
ranger50 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Caught 287. Mostly smallmouth and I don't register any fish under 10'' in my log--wastes fishing time> Quote
Rattletrap Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 preach4bass. We can never retire from God's work. Too much to do and so little time. Fishing for Men and fishing for Bass, in that order. I hope there are some good lakes in heaven. My mansion will be the one with the 21 Ft Stratos parked out front. ;D Quote
Cephkiller Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I guess I averaged about twice a week and 3-4 bass per trip, so 300-400 maybe? I have caught 9 so far this year in 5 trips. That's not a bad start for January in Indiana. I did catch 8 of those in one trip, though I guess that has skewed my average a bit, huh? Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted February 3, 2006 Super User Posted February 3, 2006 My fishing log tells me it was 583 but there were a few days that I didn't log in. I had several 30 fish days and a few 40's. But I am most proud of the fact that I only got skunked seven times. Quote

Nice area. I did some pretty good bassin on base, but that's it. We live in the county just South of Centerville after moving here in 1972. I'm a stockbroker so I've never fished on the base. Yes, I've had great luck with Matt's Baby Bass here in both private ponds and in the State-owned Dodge County PFA lake. I've caught dozens of Bass on those models plus on his Bluegills too. Here are just a couple of Matt's Baby Bass Bass: 7/12 6 lber 6+ lber 6+ lber Here's a small Bass on his new, 6" Rainbow Trout bait: Dan Quote
Rattletrap Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Lightninrod. Awesome. Catching bass on a Rainbow trout in Georgia, who'ed a thunk it! I always enjoyed the Warner Robins area. That whole area is great. Is there a season or time that's best for Matt's lures that you have figured out? Quote
