DougFunnie13 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 In order to be apart of the bass pro rewards program, do you have to sign up for their credit card, or are they two different things? I could use the rewards, but I really don't want another credit card at this time. For anyone interested, they had some Norman crankbaits on sale in their ad this week. Quote
srv1990 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 No, it's not a credit card, just tracks and gives you BPS dollars based on what you spend. I signed up for one yesterday, did it in person, after feeding the bait monkey. Quote
benzo73 Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I have a rewards card it is not a credit card it accumulates 2% of each dollar you spend at bps. Quote
jagdbdg Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 they need to give more than 2%, not to sound greedy. You spend 200.00 and get 4.00, thats not even 2 packs on hooks Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 That's $4 you wouldn't have if you shopped elsewhere. Encourages you to buy from them as opposed to other equal sites. If you buy 2 st croix rods , are you gonna get them at basspro for $400 and get a free reel cover and lure wrap or buy from cabelas for $400 and get just the rods? Doesn't make much difference if you're looking to buy $20-30 worth of tackle but if Shimano Stella's are your weapon of choice and you need 6 of them,.....it adds up. Quote
jagdbdg Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Cabelas has a points program to, true you do have 4.00 more, but i have to drive 2 hrs to BPS, so to me it doesnt add up, time and gas, my opinion, but the upside they do have things you may not find other places. Double edge sword i guess Quote
basser89 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I believe you can use the rewards card when you call in an order too. Not sure if on-line applies or not. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 yup,.just speaking hypothetically Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 24, 2006 Super User Posted January 24, 2006 I believe you can use the rewards card when you call in an order too. Not sure if on-line applies or not. Yes it applies for online orders too. You just have to set it up. Quote
codogs Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 My Bass Pro Shop credit card accumulates reward points. Not sure if they're all the same, but my reward points go away at the end of each year so in my case it's use them or lose them. If you're not buying items from Bass Pro, you generally earn 1 or 2 percent instead of 4 percent. It's still better than nothing I guess. You can use the points on Bass Pro's website as well. They track your points, so when you go to 'check out' you'll be able to enter the amount you have toward your purchase. I just cashed my points in on Dec 28th, and the item I purchased ended up being on back order. They let me cancel my order and sent me a gift card for the value of my points. Pretty good deal. Quote
rbreedi1 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Anyone have a link where I can sign up for the Rewards Card online? Or do you have to sign up at a store? I dont want the credit card one, just the regular one. Thanks. Quote
srv1990 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Check here first: https://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.Faq They also have an 800 number you can call with questions. Quote
texasbass1 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 You do get points for on line purchases, and 4% if you purchase BPS brand merchandise. Quote
shiloh Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 PMFJI... I wanted to get in on the BPS Rewards program, and as far as I could tell, I had to get a MBNA Visa (with the BPS fish on it). If you go to the BPS Rewards FAQ page, there is something about the "old" Rewards card, which would seem to be the non-VISA card option -- and it doesn't seem to be available. I decided to get the BPS VISA -- and retired my other VISA -- and all my gas credit cards. I use the BPS VISA for all credit card purchases, and get points for all my purchases -- the gas purchases really add up these days! And after CHristmas shopping, I have accumulated a bunch of points. And my points did not go away at the end of the year. But (as they say on TV...) wait -- there's more... You get an instant $10 coupon for use in-store, and an additional $25 gift card as soon as you use the VISA card for anything. I don't see a downside in getting the VISA card if you are already using a credit card -- and, as y'all know the points are multiplied if the card is used at BPS and multiplied even more if you buy BPS branded stuff. I figure with all the accumulated points from Christmas, gas, etc., together with the $25 gift card I still have, plus any gift cards I get for upcoming birthday (broad hints have been dropped...worked for me last year!), I will have a good chunk of bait monkey food to start gearing up in the spring. (not to mention timing my shopping to coincide with BPS sale events). My $0.02... Quote
Bass Hammer Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Let me tell you how I do it. I have the card. Everything I spend other than my morgage goes on it. One easy payment to pay off the creditcard each month. I always have a points to use. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 24, 2006 Super User Posted January 24, 2006 They are two different things. You can get rewards points from using the BPS credit card, or you can get reward points from using the reward card. When I called the customer service number they told me that on the reward card, the points were cancelled after one year of inactivity. If you have points on both the credit card and the reward card, and you haven't used the reward card in the last year you loose the points. I don't have a credit card so I didn't ask about it. Quote
DougFunnie13 Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Thanks for the clarification guys. I went to Bass Pro last night and signed up for the rewardd card. Then I had to go and buy something while I was in there and earned $.20! 2% isn't much but its better than nothing. Quote
Guest avid Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I use the rewards card. With all the stuff I buy from BPS mostly online, I get myself a new lucky craft a couple or three times a year. Cabelas just started a similar program, you don't need to use their credit card anymore. NOTICE - You have to sign up for each of these programs. I had spent about 800.00 before I realized the BPS program didn't rquire their credit card. I wanted it retroactive but no dice. I could have thrown a hissy fit and probably got the credit, but I was a mellow fellow 8-) Quote
