Bass_junky Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I was wondering how many people watch this show and what your opinions are of his grading system vs. his own ability? I have watched this program for some time and it is my opinion that it is very bias, when watching Denny fish after grading someone else. Seems he makes the same mistakes that he is deducting points from others. EX: show two weeks ago he deducted points for grabbing the line when landing a fish. When it was his turn to fish the area he did the exact same thing. JMO Quote
Yankee_Bassman Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I watch it, but it's by no means a favorite....he is awfully tough on some of those guys. I'd lose so many points backing the trailer through the cones that it wouldn't matter what I did on the water....... Quote
Will Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I have also noticed how he makes mistakes, one episode he was worried about all the rods on the contestants deck, and then there was just a glimpse of his deck and it was also full of rods laying around. It just goes to show that everyone makes mistakes, especially when your excited. I like the show, there are lots of little tips built into it. Quote
Minuteman Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I liked the show, too bad it got axed. Most of the best teachers in the world will tell you, "do as I say, not as I do". I've found that shortcuts come in handy sometimes, but they can prevent you from learning very important lessons early on. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 yeah bring back schooled by db and get rid of jerrys fishin hole Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted January 15, 2006 Super User Posted January 15, 2006 keep jerry and denny and trash charlie!!! ;D Quote
Cajun1977 Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 keep charlie and trash the saltwater charlie episodes bring loudmouth bass back also Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted January 15, 2006 Super User Posted January 15, 2006 trash charlie and loudmouth bass and find another good show. ;D Quote
basspro48 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I actually really liked loudmouth bass, the E3 tournaments were pretty cool and Mark Zona and Jay Kumar were hilarious together, all those skits and stuff they did on the show man those were funny. I am very sorry to see such a fresh great new show that offers a different insight into the world of bass fishing get axed. Quote
JaxBasser Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Loudmouth bass was great,i cant belive it got cancelled.Schooled by DB was good to. The only good show left is BassCenter > Quote
Super User 5bass Posted January 16, 2006 Super User Posted January 16, 2006 I liked Loudmouth Bass and think they need to bring it back.......without Kumar, his whining voice hurts my ears, plus he didnt seem to know a whole lot about bass fishing.Zona rocks though! Schooled by Brauer was okay although he did seem to get off on deducting points from the guys on his show.I'd like to see someone on his show find some offshore structure and blow his mind........Denny's an old school bank-beater.If the bass aint on the bank,he aint catchin jack. Jerry McKinnis is too sappy at times and is basically just a couple of guys out fishing, not much info in that show. I'm still on the fence about Charlie Moore.....saw one yesterday where he went with his wife as his partner to fish an 8 hr tournament against 2 guys in Alabama on their home lake.Judging by the amount of trash those 2 dudes were talkin,I didnt think 'ol Charlie would have a chance. Those guys bombed and only brought back 1 bass,Moore had 2 and won it. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 16, 2006 Super User Posted January 16, 2006 Jerry McKinnis has got to GO!!!! That guy is BORING!!!! It seems to me that he thinks very highly of himself too and I can't stand people like that. Half the time when I get up watch Bass Saturday I fall back asleep when his show is on. Look at Jimmy Houston's show. Basically the same set up. Just two guys fishing. You won't learn much from Jimmy (zero from Jerry), but you are entertained. McKinnis just does not have a TV personality IMO. Quote
Will Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Anymore the only show I watch on Bass Saturday is the re-run of Bassmaster Tour Events, some Charlie Moore, and some Bass Tech. I can't stand Jerry and Jimmy, and Bass Center is informative its usually to late in the afternoon I am already doing something else. Off to the side a little, how about Fox Sports News showing the Everstart Championship over and over and over...its on during the weekday afternoons? Quote
Madhouse27 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Someone meantioned that Loudmouth Bass was cancelled. I guess this is the first I'd heard of it. I assumed that they had simply done their seasons worth of shows and would be back for another run. Can anyone confirm that they are in fact cancelled for good. I like most of the sat morning shows. My thought is a lame show about bass fishing is still better than most of the stuff on tv. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 16, 2006 Super User Posted January 16, 2006 yeah bring back schooled by db and get rid of jerrys fishin hole keep jerry and denny and trash charlie!!! keep charlie and trash the saltwater charlie episodes bring loudmouth bass back also trash charlie and loudmouth bass and find another good show. BOY...this is a tough bunch Quote
basser89 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Schooled was good. Denny's last show (The Bass Class) I thought was better. But his show before that one (can't remember its name) was the one I liked the best from Denny. While I admire his fishing skills, I met him at the Classic last year and was VERY let down with him and his attitude! As for the other shows, liked Loudmouth (minus Kumar) especially the E3's, Fishin' Hole....well I thought it was BASS Saturday??? Charlie is ok (I hope LBH gets his shot and schools him!) as long as he's bass fishing. I like Jimmy, if you watch his show close enough you can pick some things up from him; plus IMO he can entertain as well. Quote
BiggerWorm Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I really enjoy bass saturday. This time of year is when I'm able to catch the shows. As spring nears I am usually fishing. I do hate to hear Schooled by DB and loudmouth bass were cancelled. I was hoping they were awaiting a new season. Are you guys sure its cancelled? The first few times I saw charlie moore I didn't care for it, but I've seen a few more and guess its OK. I hope the next time his wife fishes with him its in sunny, warm weather, if you know what I mean. As far as the Fishing Hole, well you've got to love that, that show has been on since I was a kid. Quote
chunter_ksu Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I met Denny at a BASS Univ last year and it was a totally opposite experience than what you had basser89. They had to force him to leave the front of the class. BEST of all he marked a few spots on a map of Lake of the Ozarks for a guy who had a tournament coming up. Classy act in my book. Quote
basser89 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Hey chunter_ksu, Maybe my experience was a rare exception. It may have been the fact that he was there not fishing and it was the last day of the event. Maybe my opinion will change if I see him again under a different setting. I hope so since I did like him before that! Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 16, 2006 Super User Posted January 16, 2006 We need to ease up on Charlie Moore until we find out if he will accept LBH's challenge. We did use this Forum's name in the challenge, and to see us wanting his show cancelled might not help. Any shows are better than none!!!What do you want, more info-commercials? Quote
mjbfsh07 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 yeah bring back schooled by db and get rid of jerrys fishin hole I can't believe that you want to axe Jerry's show. He is a devoted smallmouth fisherman, and one of the best around.....If you want to axe someone axe that d#uc*e Charlie Moore. He lives down the street from me. He is the only guy that has his own show and can hardly acatch a bass over 2lbs.............It must help that his wife had an IN with the exec's at ESPN Quote
Flatfish Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 DB put's his pant's on just like the rest of ue, maybe you just caught him at a bad time, I had heard stories about Roland Martin and was convinced he was a jerk, but at his seminar this year at the KC Sports Show they just about had to drag him off the stage. He was fired up and didn't want to quit answering question's, then spent about a hour signing autographs. Guess what I'am trying to say is don't be to quick to judge, gime them a fair chance. Only question I have is Where is Orlando Wilson when you need him??????? Quote
KYbass1276 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I emailed espn about them cancelling loudmouth a couple of weeks ago didn't get a response from them. I was kinda wondering why they replaced bassmaster university with the fishin hole. schooled was decent to but he was a little rough on the guys Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Schooled by DB is a pretty good show.I liked his "Bass Class" a whole lot.Mucho info on that show. Also like Basscenter,Byron Velvick is one cool dude. That old man that's his pardner don't know bassin' from wild honey though.Charlie Moore's craziness appeals to me much like Ike's antics endear him to most of us.I wasn't that crazy about Loudmouth Bass ,but I love Mark Zona.I hope ESPN keeps him on in some capacity. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted January 19, 2006 Super User Posted January 19, 2006 Also like Basscenter,Byron Velvick is one cool dude. That old man that's his pardner don't know bassin' from wild honey though.. That's John Kernan with Velvick. He used to do the local sports news here in Roanoke,Va. and you're correct,he dont know jack about bass fishin'.Good call RR. Quote
