blanked Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 have you ever caught a picture worthy fish and your fishing alone? what do you do? Quote
BassNut Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I have this problem all the time. It's hard to hold a fish, make a face that won't scare people and hold the camera with the free hand to snap the picture. So I bought a small dig. camera and use the timer now to take my pics. I made the mistake though when I bought this camera, I can't preview my shots, I should have gotten one with a viewer. Next one I'll spend a little more and get the view option. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 16, 2006 Super User Posted January 16, 2006 Most of the time, the draft of my boat will keep about 3" water in the livewell, I have put them in for a quick pic before releasing. I have wetted a plastic weigh-in bag and laid it down for a fast pic also. No way a fish should be in the bottom of the boat flopping around on metal or carpet waiting for a picture summer or winter. Lightninrod Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 95% of the time I'm fishing alone in my small Basshunter pond boat. I started carrying a tripod(don't get a cheap--$20 one--it cost me a dig. camera) with my dig. camera. The camera has a large(3x2") viewing screen, a wireless remote and of course, a timer(2 or 10 seconds). When I catch one I want to photograph, I weigh/tape it first, place it on a stainless steel clip/stringer(and back in the water), and then I set up the camera/tripod and put my shirt on if it's summer time . preach4bass Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I'm sure your fishing buddies appriciate you having your shirt on when you show them your pictures lightninrod ;D ;D ;D Quote
basser89 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I picked up a Motorola V220 camera/phone. It has a time on it so when I first get to the water (either on the boat or on shore), I do a quick test shot to get the distance right and then all you need to do is just remember where to stand and start the timer. Mine has a 5 or 10 second delay which is plenty! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 camera on front seat, 12 second time delay, and SMILE ;D Quote
Rattletrap Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Camera on the front seat. Set the timer and smile. It's easy to figure out where to sit or stand to get it right every time. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 19, 2006 Super User Posted January 19, 2006 I have a reel good tripod that I got years ago. I just bunjee it in the back of the boat. I lock the camera on and it is always ready. With the 12 second timer I can take all the pictures I want. My avater was taken this way. Quote

wildcatbass Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 When I'm hard pressed, camera phones are crucial! Not the best quality, but some memory/proof is better than none... Quote
Guest avid Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 and then I set up the camera/tripod and put my shirt on if it's summer time . Dan Oh Dan, your so modest ;D ;D Quote
Guest avid Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I got a new cell phone with a camera but I keep trying to email the image to my computer and it doesn't seem to work. I suppose I can get software to download direct. I'll have to look into that, but I hate malls. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 why would you need a camera everyone knows if a fisherman says he caught something he caught it lol 8-) ;) Quote
Kana Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 i have the same problem, i have a good camera phone, in which the screen flips so i can see and preview but the frame is only so big at arms length away. if im going to a place that i antcipate catching nice fish i bring the Digital video camera then "snp" pics from it off te computer when i get home. nothing beats a tech savy fishing partner to take the best pics!!!! 8-) Quote

If ur PC doenst support them buy a USB bluetooth card and ur life will be much easier. Direct tranmission form ur cell phone to the PC in high speed Quote
Peter E. Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Well if you don't have a camera then after you weigh the fish and measure it add two pounds and 4 inches and maybe the folks you give the fishing story to will guess the actual size of the fish . Peter Quote

I called data support, they reset some stuff and it started working. Quote

I suppose I can get software to download direct. I'll have to look into that, but I hate malls. That's the whole point of the phone service companies. They don't want you to be able to download it. I'm sure you can send it on the "cell-web" for a small fee (say $3.00 or so per download). That way they can snooker you into an extra $20 a month for internet service on your phone. That was the thing on my Motorola. The software's available, just not on Cingular's website (wonder why?). You guys are missing the main point. Being by yourself IS the excuse. "I didn't get a picture of that 15 pounder because I was by myself. If you'd of only been there to take the picture. Maybe next time!!" : Honestly though, when I make a point to pack the camera, I don't catch any "photo-worthy" fish. It seems that I only catch them when I don't have it (none of them are REALLY big, but they are "photo-worthy"). Quote
