As Chris stated keep that bait off the bottom! You can use a quark or even using a free lining technique. Just look for the places that you expect to catch a bass, like laydowns, soap stone walls, and so on, and keep on fishing.

if you can try fishing live minnows without a bobber. watch your line and use the line as the indicator. this in turn will teach you how to fish with weightless worms it exactly the same except with live bait you don't have to put any action into the bait because the minnow is alive. its a good intro into most plastics.

Yep, toss it to the same places you'd fish an artificial! The advantage of live bait is that it is...well...alive! :)

Well said!!   :o

Sometimes we get so involved in the subtle technicalities that we completely overlook the obvious.

I don't do much of it these days, but watching a shiner or shrimp (salt flats) dance around under a bobber is a real fun way to fish.  This would sound totally sadistic to a PETA person, but when the predator fish starts to move in and the shiner starts painicking and jumping out of the water, is just really exciting.  I get all tensed up and my focus is unbelievable.  Then the bobber goes under, the hook is set.  And phase 2 begins.  (Pause>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>)

I had to stop for a moment because I was dripping sweat all over the keyboard  ;D

I'm getting so excited thinking about it, I'll have to get to the bait shop real soon.

I hope Pam Anderson  doesn't read this forum because she might want to come over and spank me
