They're right there but they won't bite!

I go fishing near a very small and shallow pond near my house.  Yesterday, around 1:00, I could see several huge bass, as well as fairly small ones.  Right on top of the water! But they wont bite anything at all.  I tried spinner baits, crank baits, beetle spins with jigs, chug bugs, live worms, and artificial worms.

What can I do? what should I use?

oh and the water is only like 3ft to nearly a foot throughout the area where I see them.....if that helps.

I would try drop shotting with something small.  Try a small grub or Bass Assassin.

I would down size to like small grubs or lizard and worms, buy them in like a 4inch or smaller size works good.

Keep on throwing different stuff. The same thing happened to me yesterday. I was looking at about 5 bass just watching everything go by. Some would come up to the bait but no hits. I threw 5' senko in a watermelon color, KVD jerk bait, small watermelon jig, shallow shad rap in a hollogram color and my buddy got them to hit a smoked color 5" senko. You never know.

(Ok RW your going to love this) Throw a lucky craft pointer. The bait will vibrate on the pause and might draw strikes this would be one situation where it would have an edge over another jerkbait.  :-X

Good call Chris,just wanted to add,make sure you pause that pointer right in front of there face for as long as it takes,they should hit it if you got the right color.

If you can see the fish, they can probably see you too.  If they are, then you could throw your whole tackle box in and they might not bite.  Try fishing early dawn, dusk or at night.  If they're close to the top and stay there, try a buzzbait or some other topwater lure and fish it very slow.

It's possible that those aren't bass you're seeing. They could very well be carp, pickeral or gar.  All of those fish don't spook easily and can be mistaken for bass at first glance.

I remember a small pond I used to fish a few years back had a bunch of carp sitting along the banks. At first I didn't know there were any carp in the lake, so I was casting worms and stuff at them thinking they were bass, but after I didn't get any bites I took a closer look and realized they weren't.

This same thing happened to me on one of the Great Lakes.  I could see the bass and I tried throwing everything I had at them.  Nothing seemed to catch their attention except a wacky rigged yum dinger.  If I was you I would just keep trying different things and be versatile.

Throw a Pop-R out on lightest line possible....Let it sit for as long as you can stand........then twitch it once....let it sit and so on....Finally one of them will get ticked off and nail it. All else fails try some really small offerings worked on a medium retireve......all you can do after they see you is get an reaction strike.

Sure can. Look for Kinami baits in a blue and white package. 5 inch cigar looking worm. Exactly the same thing as a Senko. Buy a pack and place your hook in the middle of the bait (wacky rigged) and go out there and catch those bass!

A friend and I were fishing a small private pond years ago,  very early march. The water was still very cold.  He had on one of the old shallow running Rebel wee R's.  He made a cast and the line tangled up with the hooks.  He started reeling it back it, it was spinning around on the surface as it came in and a huge 6 1/2 lber hit the thing      I about crapped.   ;D

And im positive that these are bass.I looked very closely.  But I have caught several 25-30lb. carp out of that  pond!
