Siebert Outdoors Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I saw this terminology in 2006 BPS catalog and was like what. Never heard of it before. So reading on its just like what I would consider a no weight texas rig. Any of you guys ever heard of it? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 30, 2005 Super User Posted December 30, 2005 PLINK v. v. tr. To cause to make a soft, sharp, metallic sound; clink. v. intr. To shoot causually at random targets. Quote
earthworm77 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I think they made it up so you would buy more baits! lol Seriously though I'm pretty sure I've heard skipping weightless worms called plinking. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 I was just pointed out that there is a small weight in the tail of the worm. I missed that. Quote
GobbleDog Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 That sounds interesting. Putting a weight in the tail of, say a Trick Worm, instead of using a traditional sliding bullet weight on the front.... I might try it. How bad could it be? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 30, 2005 Super User Posted December 30, 2005 Small finish nails are the norm for adding weight to wacky and finese worms. Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 There is an article in the last issue of bassin' about plinking. I think it is like a flipping or pitching technique used with weightless plastics. Quote
Minuteman Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I saw that in the Catalog too, it reminded me of my childhood walking through the woods with my .22 rifle. Quote
Guest avid Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 It's a free country (well almost) so they can call anything anything. But to me plinking is, and always be walking through the woods like minuteman said and shooting at odd targets. I spent countless hours of blissful plinking in my younger days. Mike Iaconelli is coining a new phrase called "plunking" It means dropping a heavy jig or weighted plastic through dense weed cover to get at the bass underneath. I'm trying to think if there was already a term for that common type of fishing technique, but don't think so, so I guess he deserves credit for it. The closest name I can recall is "heavy cover flipping" We do it alot down here in Florida. Quote
basser89 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Isn't that a game on "The price is right"? ;D Quote
Cajun1977 Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 ive heard of the finish nail trick just didnt know it was called plinking Quote
phisher_d Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Isn't that a game on "The price is right"? ;D Hee Hee... lol Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted December 31, 2005 Super User Posted December 31, 2005 Hey maybe we all can come up with a term for a technique we didn't invent and market it. I got one "Flukin" - Sight fishing with a weightless fluke. Quote

Panamoka_Bassin Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Isn't that a game on "The price is right"? ;D I think that's PLINKO, but I believe that's about the same as plinking...sounds about right, anyways. Quote
FALCON Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I AGREE WITH AVID, I ALWAYS REFERRED TO SHOOTING AT TARGETS IN THE WOODS AS PLINKING. Quote
