Bassin 24-7 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Just wondering haw many fishing forums you guys where members of and what the names of them where? I am a member of 3 forums. This one, TN Bass Fishing and Bass pro shops forums. Just curiuos as to what else is out there. I need all the help I can get. Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I was in 4,but the other 3 were so boring that I quit posting after a week or so.They just didn't have the magic of this place. So here I am in the only active forum that I'm amember of. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 8, 2005 Super User Posted December 8, 2005 2, and this one by FAR is the best. The only reason I joined the other one was to get some local advice on a lake that I fished last spring. I only look at the other one maybe once or twice a week. Quote
FlyRod Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Well, to be honest, I'm still looking for the "perfect" forum...whatever the heck that is. Of the those that I'm a member of, all offer some positives and some negatives. One of them (present company excluded, please note) seems to be populated by 6th grade dropouts who thrive on name-calling, posting pics that are unsuited (though mighty eyecatching) to a "family" board, and delighting in internecine warfare among members of other forums. If someone ever films a remake of "Deliverance", I know where they can hire all the "local color" they need. Another has recently featured some strife as mentioned above, with the result that several members bailed after posting heart-rending (riiiiight!) farewells. Hey, if you're gonna leave, just drop off the key, Lee. No famous last words required. Yet another seems a bit too politically correct and over-censored, but that's no crime in that most all forums are the personal domains of an individual or tight little group. As such, he/she/the inner circle or clique, have the right to dictate and control, fairly or not, thus reflecting their own values (or lack thereof) and that's simply the way it is. So, by sampling them all, I've been entertained, angered, educated, frustrated, complimented, insulted, laughed at AND with, praised, damned, threatened, approved of, etc, etc. In turn, I've tried to be helpful, sincerely sympathetic, constructively critical, funny, and fair. By the same standard as I'm willing to apply on a give and take basis, I've been no more, or less, successful in my efforts as the various forums have been in gratifying me. So, what does this tell us? Simple...nobody is perfect, least of all me! F.Rod Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 8, 2005 Super User Posted December 8, 2005 Now that this one is back, one, I will surf one other that is the Texas Fishing Forum, Don't claim to be a member of that one. This forum is quite mild compared to the bashings that can take place on their forum. Quote
gc Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 2, this one and http://www.fishing.net.nz/asp_forums/ to keep up-to-date with what's going on back home (sorry, no bass tips there). Quote
paparock Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Three but after finding this one I rarely post on the other two. 8-) Quote
Bass Hammer Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 2 here. This one and another for fishing reports. Quote
basser89 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 6. But since I found this one, I don't even bother with the others except when the board was down. And man was that ever BORING! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted December 8, 2005 Super User Posted December 8, 2005 Three but this is my number ONE forum on the net. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I Used to belong to a couple but this is the only forum im at now WHY GO ANYWHERE ELSE> Glenn and the other moderators do such a good job and people here share their knowledge without trying to sell lures, or get into all that hostility found other places And a lot of times a post will keep you laughing through the day Quote
sodaksker Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I belong to 3, one local, one for the ABA, and this one. This is pretty much the one I use on a regualr basis. The other ones I look at about 2 times per month, which reminds me that I had better check them out, its been a little while. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted December 8, 2005 Super User Posted December 8, 2005 I visit this and two others. One is in Australia. I found it by accident, and keep going back. There's something way cool about chatting with anglers half way around the world. It's a lot like this one; friendly people, free with advice and no hostilities. I joined BPS's forum when this one was down. I won't be going back there anytime soon. This is the best. With thanks and gratitude, I'll send a tip o' the hat to Glenn, Chris, RW and LBH for the work they do keeping this place clean, friendly and informative. Thanks guys!! GK Quote
Guest DavidGreen Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I am a member of the Bassmaster forum, the NAFC forum, and here at Bassresource. IMPO this is the best by far, and I haven't logged onto any of the others since becoming a member here. The crew, and the members here are the best on the net.... ;D Thank you all........... Tight Lines! Quote
billybass Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I'm a member of four forums, and I agree with FlyRod, they all bring something to the table. Unfortunately not all of it is edible. FlyRod, as you know it was very easy to figure out your other forums. I agree, BFHP does have a lot of whining, personnal attacking, and risque photo's (One of those three things I have no problem with!!!). But their are also some very good people there that work hard to keep everyone informed and educated on this sport. The *** has gone thru some changes of the guard lately, and they've gone downhill big time. There's a lot of personnal attacking there now. I'm also a member of The Florida Bass Forum, a new but very good forum, patterned I think after the Texas Bass Forum. I highly recommend all of you look for a local forum where you can find local information and interact with local folks too. Quote
Will Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 2 of them, this message board which is great and then a Kansas Federation board which is only whats going on in the state, and major issues with tournaments. I also did some looking when this board was down, and it was bad. Quote
texasbass1 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I belong to 4 including this one. Each has their good and bad points. Quote

FlyRod Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 BillyBass, IF I had wanted to name forums, I would have. I did not do so because I was speaking of group behavior and character, not individuals. I had no reason then, nor do I now, to put anyone...moderator, member, whatever, in the spotlight or under the microscope. There was no valid reason for you to "modify" MY post, unless it was to curry favor with the forums you named (correctly or otherwise). It needed no further elaboration or detail. Besides, you may not have been accurate. I note, with wry satisfaction, that you declined to "guess" at any others whose distinguishing features I mentioned. Why not hazard a guess or two now? Catch a big 'un and be safe doing it. FlyRod Quote
Guest avid Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I belong to four forums but rarely post on the others. I feel very at home here. As far as controversy is concerned, I like it. Unfortunately it's hard for alot of people on the internet to strongly disagree without getting personal and attacking. That's too bad because I really like an indepth discussion where different opinions are strongly argued for and against in a civilized way. I would like to browse some of the rude forums, so if someone would pm with a url I would appreciate it. Quote
billybass Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 FlyRod, you're right, I was out of line this afternoon. I do apoligize for cueing in on your post. Sorry, Bill Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 You guys make being a moderator too easy, I wonder if the mods on the other boards feel the same way. Quote
