Guest the_muddy_man Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Hey Fellas I have some rapalas and a few other balsa plugs that hooks got rusted I got some suggestions and bought some relacement trebels Now that im lookin at this when i unscrew the treble hook holders and screw the new one on what should i put on the plug to protect it from the water. I just started with a crank bait and i think i need to put some thing over the screw holes to keep the water out ANY SUGGESTIONS? Quote
fishingrulz Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 how do you get the hooks out without tearin up your fingers? lol maybe if you put a dab of superglue in it it will seal it up. Quote
Bass Hammer Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Any waterproof glue should work. I always add a split ring on instead of attaching it back to the hook holder. This does two things. It makes replacing the next time easier and it doesn't allow the fish to get leverage on the hook when it stops moving in the hook holder. Hammer Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Thanks Bass Hammer Dopey me didnt even notice that on the plug i took the hook holder off IT HAD SPLITRINGS ON IT :-X But the ones that dont i will Hope it doesnt change the action of the bait though Quote
Guest avid Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 I second the split ring idea. Once I need to change hooks on a bait it gets a split ring. I never noticed any decline in action or bass catchability. Quote
