airborne_angler Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I have noticed lately when I fish a local pond, that when I bring in Milfoil,I find small olive colored egg things attached to it. What could this be? I doubt its frog eggs could it be an insect egg? I am puzzled and thought about posting this for a while, but curiousity has been killing me,so I finally broke down and decided to ask. I can obtain pictures if that would help identifying this stuff. Thanks all Quote
bassindude Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Sounds like seed to me. Not sure what kind, i'd have to see it. small ponds are very prone to algae blooms. Could be that I suppose. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Hey i was fishin a pond in New Jersery amd pulled in something with the Milfoil turned out to be Jimmy Hoffa ;DThrew him back i didnt want to have to answer all those questions that would follow, me being Italian and all that Quote
Chris Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I would think it is frog eggs but really it is a form of algae. Quote
Minuteman Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 During the summer I pulled in an underwater branch and clumps of vegetation that had what looked like a pod from aliens hanging from it. It was obviously something living or about to be alive. I think they were ping pong ball size. I'd of never thought of frogs though and I usually see turtles laying eggs on the beach. Quote
Madhouse27 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Minuteman, have you seen the tv show "Surface"? I think those eggs must have been from one of the creatures on the show. Quote
Minuteman Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Madhouse, I've seen Surface and I don't think I will be fishing in that cove anymore. Unless I have my new Phaser IV lure/weapon ready by spring! Quote
