bassdocktor Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Looks like the last time to get the boat out will be this weekend. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to approach it. Air lately has been about 50. Not really sure about the water. River has alot of barges and some regular boats aswell. Generally the banks are pretty shallow with a steep drop. A decent amount of timber with most in about no more than 2ft. Middle of the river no more than 15ft. Some little marinas and bridges with cement posts and very little weeds in the water during the summer. Just wondering if anyone had some good ideas. Looks like maybe high 60's for the weekend. fireandice Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Well, I'm not sure where you're fishing, but I'm guessing midwest from your temp. reference. From what I've seen here in KS, probably going to be a slow bite, but fish slow and move around until you find the baitfish that the bass are feeding upon. They're probably going to be on creek channels or points, but try to find those shad or bluegill that they are eating. Maybe go to the windblown shore and see if the shad are anywhere to be found. Just don't plan on them being in the same spots they were in this summer. I believe in the midwest, they are on the move trying to find some wintering food without chasing bait too far. Quote
Guest avid Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 This sounds alot like the conditions at the classic this year. Why not try jerkbaits under the bridges. Oh yeah and wait for a barge to create some extra current. Quote
bassdocktor Posted October 27, 2005 Author Posted October 27, 2005 Yeah it is the midwest I'm right in Chicago. Yeah I was kinda thinking about trying the jerkbait idea because I agree it is lik ethe Classic. Thanks, bassdocktor Quote
