lovecranking Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I need to get some advice on the best day to fish. I'm in the midwest (Chicago area) & fish Lake Geneva Wisc. For the past 2 days we have been getting weather in the high 80's and it is suppose to last through Tuesday. Now starting Weds, the temp is suppose to drop about 15 to 20 degrees and Thurs. another drop of 10 degrees. Let's say you can fish either day, which day do you think would be the best to fish? I never can remember if the 1st day or the 2nd day of cold fronts turns the fish bite off and you're just waisting your time fishing. Any ideas? Quote
nwgabassmaster Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 It all depends on what the fish have been doing before the front hits. If they have been sitting around the thermocline, and are still in summer patterns, then, I would fish both days, but I would fish close to the cover. If the fish have been shallow, due to cool water and the fall transistion, I would look a little deeper, but still tight to cover. Remember, humans feel the effect of cold fronts and warm fronts a lot sooner than bass do. Quote
basspro48 Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 I would fish slower and closer to thick cover. Try a finesse worm on a jighead or small jigs. Hope this helps. Quote
lovecranking Posted October 4, 2005 Author Posted October 4, 2005 The bass have been very active shallow, thanks for the advice. Quote
