drop-shot fool Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I don't know a lot about jig fishing. I pair my jig with a zoom super chunk or super chunk jr everytime i throw a jig. Am i missing out on a lot of bass by throwing these. Whats the best trailers for jigs and when should i use em. Quote
cbfishalot Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I use a couple jig trailers! 1. Zoom Lil Critter Craw 2. Zoom Super Chunk Jr 3. GYCB Hula Grub 4. Zoom Super Chunk 5. GYCB Double Tail Grub I use the first 3 about 90% of the time. You will get a 100 different answers and choices. Find a couple you have confidence in and fits the type of jig fishing your doing. I have used alot more trailers but these 5 are the ones that I have the most confidence in. Quote
Mottfia Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I have a simple way of doing things when it comes to a jig trailer that are based on the cover being attacked...caution... BR and its members are not responsible for any damaged or injuries that may occur from massive bass when tossing these lures. lol now on to the show. Super Chunk- heavy cover and/or muddy water- I want a bulky slow falling lure when dealing with these conditions. I want a jig heavy enough to get in the cover but light enough to give the bass a second to react. I use the bait more as a drop lure. Drop it in a hole, shake it and pull it out...repeat. Twin Tail Grub-sparse to open cover- The tails give a vibration that helps the fish locate my lure. The fish are able to move around so they will feel its presence and move to it. This trailer is great for lift and drop retrieves and swimming retrieves Well thats it...haha simple yes but effective. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 17, 2009 Super User Posted January 17, 2009 I lilke the Paca chunks in the summer, the bass just seem to love the way those claws flap when the water is warm. The rest of the year I use the Yum crawbug. Quote
fathom Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 i like to keep things simple...99% of the time i fish a jig, there's a zoom super chunk jr. on the back of it. i use other trailers, as well, but they're mainly for change-up...day in and day out, the old "rabbit ears" out produces them all. ymmv. Bad to da Bass Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I also like the Zoom Super Chunk trailers they just seem to look real good in the water. I also like a brand of hand poured trailers that float and also look real good in the water. Quote

This will be a good trailer on my jigs this year. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 If you haven't used the ragetail chunks, or paca chunks, your missing out IMO. Quote
Calcutta Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I am like most here, I have tried most all trailers and have stuck with Paca chunk,Paca craw, zoom super chunk, and zoomsuper chunk jr. I will add that the biggest bass Ive ever caught was on a jig with a bigger bites yo-mamma trailer.(I got it at academy)Unfortunatly the yo-mamma has not produced for me since then. Quote
