Sure. I would just make sure the rod is atleast a medium action unless it has a wire weedguard or none at all. Since it is a jig and you should be fishing it around some cover I would also have atleast 10 pound line on.

yea it hase 12 pound test on it

You'll be fine. Just remember if you are using a jig with a light wire or no weedguard you don't need to drill them on your hooksets. But if using a jig with a heavy weedguard you need to give them a good whack. And at the same time remember you are only using 12 pound test.

Just buy some 30 pound Power Pro that has the diameter of 6 pound test and have a blast... Then you dont have to worry.

IMO a ML rod is a bit too light for a 3/8 jig, unless it has a lighter wire hook. And, I also think 12# is pushing the limits of a ML spinning rod. Check the line rating bc power designations can vary with maker.

As Tin suggested a M would be better. But, you've got what you've got. If you need a 3/8 and aren't ready to buy a rod, fish it! You can probably make it work.

can i use a 3/8 0z jig on a spinning reel same with the 1/4oz jig

Ask your question more clearly.  Are you asking if it's ok to fish a 3/8 jig and a 1/4 jig on the same line, or a 3/8 or 1/4 on a spinning rod.  Every rod has a weight guidline on the rod itself... look and see.  We cannot tell you in your original post if it's ok without knowing what kind of spinning rod your using.  There are a 50+ brands as well as 5+ different powers, plus 5 different actions, plus numerous different sizes.... how are we supposed to know what your using based on your first post?  I'm not bashing you an any way, just giving you a tip on how to present a question so we can give you the correct answer you are looking for.

First off if your asking about using two jigs on one line, I think 12 pound might be alright, but a medium light rod is too underpowered.

If your asking if it's ok to use either a 1/4 or 3/8 jig on a spinning rod, I would say yes.

Good luck man, stick with this site and you'll learn a ton.... take a look at the Fishing Articles, they are a great starting point.

fishin-boy,

I have cleaned up the last two threads where guys have poked

fun at you. We have a broad range of ages and skill sets among

our members and personal abuse is unacceptable.

That said, you need to spend some time reading articles in the

BassResource.com Library, "Fishing Articles" and "Tacklebox" at

the top of the page. Before participating in the Forum, you need

a basic understanding of terms.

Also, if you are really 14, you need to be paying more attention

at school, especially in your English class. An occasional typing

error is one thing, but your posts are an abomination of the written

language. At the very least, use the "Check spelling" we provide

before submitting your post.

Give him a break guys-

We were all 14 once, some longer ago than others. ;D

Medium action spinning gear with 12 lb mono or flouro would be fine.

I think we all started out with spinning gear. Some of us never left.

As mentioned , be mindful of your hookset vs lb. line. Reel should have smooth drag also. Get the best you can afford, not necessarily the most expensive. Most of all, have fun.

(Spellcheck wont hurt either) Just to right of post box.

Could save you some unnecessary razzing

Fishin'Boy I would thin out the strands on your weedguard where it takes a minimal amount of pressure to set the hook, get a small jig and if you can afford fish it with 10#- 14# braided line which will help with your feel & hook sets. A nice jig for that set up would be a Booyah Baby Boo jig which comes in a 3/16 & 5/16 oz size (close to 3/8 oz) with a 2.75" Yum Craw Papi superglued to the head. If you get this in a dark color along with a green pumpkin you'll have a set up that will catch you a lot of fish. Good Luck, and if you get a chance introduce some of your buddies to this great sport.
