Super User roadwarrior Posted September 16, 2005 Super User Posted September 16, 2005 I did, it's one of the featured articles on the Home Page. If you haven't, then don't. What's interesting about a trip that doesn't work out? The "Rulers" are: 1. Don't get over excited or have high expectations for your BIG trip. Come on, isn't that why we plan big trips? 2. Don't expect the fish to do what you want them to. Duh? 3. Don't give up when there is still time to fish. Well, if I'm not catching fish I would just as soon have a beer and catch a buzz! I'll be fishing next week, what's the big deal? Oh well, not the Rules (For Me) to Live By. Quote
DDbasser Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I read that article too, and it left me kinda confused. I mean no trip ever goes just like you planned it. And the fish very seldom do what you expect. And as for getting pumped up and excited over a trip, when I quit doing that I'll quit fishing!!!! I did take some things from that article though, It is possible to have your expectations too high and in doing so get stuck on one lure or presentation and not be able to adapt. Don't ever get so caught up in planning to fish with one method that you fail to recognize when to change it up!! Quote
jivey Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 One of the very reasons that I fish is the idea of it being a challenge. To me the most exciting part is going out in tough conditions and trying to find a few fish. As far as "getting pumped up" for a trip. I get pumped out to go to a local lake for 3 hours let alone a big trip. If you can't get pumped up just to be on the water, maybe you need to look into a different sport. Quote
