I remember when I first started to learn about bass fishing, figuring out the abbreviations bout killed me.  So to help some of the really newcomers out, I thought I'd start a thread with abbreviations.  I'll start:

C-Rig OR Crig - Carolina Rigging

T-Rig OR Trig - Texas Rigging

BPS - Bass Pro Shop

KVD - Kevin Van d**n

TW - Top Water

Many, many others.

Ok--how would a paragraph using these abbreviations read?

c-rig pb s/b wh

t-rig MH t/m bk

BPS ML t/x bl

T/W FLW lcd

EWG c/b ch

The sentence illustrates my point.

What Rick Clunn was hoping to catch five of at the Classic.

What Aaron Martens needed one more of to WIN the Classic!

What Kevin VanDam caught more of than anyone else at the Classic.

Another name for a "keeper".

What tournament fishermen hope to cull, if they can just catch two more.

Sometimes the best fish of the day.

It's the Dark Side.

He is the Evil Force that makes fishermen buy equipment they didn't know they needed.

He has no conscience. He makes you buy things you already have. He makes you buy things when you don't have any money. He turns wants into needs.

He is the force that bonds Megabass, G. Loomis, Shimano, Ranger, Yamaha, Lucky Craft and all the other high priced equipment manufactures together.

The Bait Monkey is Raul.

The Bait Monkey has at his disposal baits, that all anglers desire and most can only dream of...

Don't believe?

The hardest abbreviations to figure out are for locations. Quite often it is not known what state or region you are located in don't need to know addresses just a reference to what general area.

                         Good  Luck!

I know I'm off topic, but you all brought up the bait monkey, well I just had a visit from his older brother the "boat monkey".  He is by far meaner and nastier!!!  I had to make him leave so I gave in and am buying a 187cx Champion tomorrow.  He showed up after I burned another cylinder in my other boat for the second time.  I beat him away the first time, but he showed up again this time with a vengance.  He won, I lost this fight.  Oh well, you can't win them all.

By the way he promised me if I bought this boat, he would keep his younger brother away for awhile.  I hope he keeps his word.

He LIED!   Those critters multiply like rabbits!  You will see more around now that you are buying that boat.  More things needed for that new boat!   ;D
