bassackwards Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 well, I guess I'd have to say, use something that the bluegill aren't going to bite. something bigger. go get a bag of plastic worm/lizards/flukes/etc... maybe 5" or bigger. cast it past him and bring it right in front of his face. if he doesn't go for it. cast it so that when the bait comes by him, u hit him in the head. thats my 2 cents. Mr.fishing Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 YA i was using 5' robo worms and i caught three bluegill on them i was getting upset Quote
Nick Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Fish a 5 inch Senko Texas and weightless in the holes of the moss. Let it sink and wiggle. Green pumpkin and watermelon are pretty universal colors. Hold on tight. Quote
nwgabassmaster Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I would try a suspending jerk bait, like the Mark Menendez Suspending Super Rogue. I would cast it past where I thought a bass was holding, twitch it twice, pause, twitch it 3 times, and pause, then go back to the 2 twitch and pause. Continue this cadence until you are up to the spot that you feel will hold the fish, and stop it. If it's a truly perfectly weighted suspender, it will sit there and not move up or down. If a bass does not plaster the paint off of the bait, with it just sitting in front of it's face, then, I would move to something a little less sporadic, such as a soft jerk bait. I would cast it past the holding spot, and once I got on it, I would let it go to the bottom, and then, let it sit for a while. After letting it sit, I would bring it up, and repeat. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 spinnerbait or jerkbait. If not, crankbait. If none of these work, throw the tackle box at her! Quote
Super User 5bass Posted August 17, 2005 Super User Posted August 17, 2005 Sounds like a jig situation to me. Quote

FutureClassicChamp Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 id have to go with a larger jerkbait, gills will hit the smaller ones. I HATE THAT! lol Quote
kevthebassman Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 go and get your ultralight rig and make a feast of those bluegill, then come back and catch the bass Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 28, 2005 Super User Posted August 28, 2005 I was fishing a pond and saw a bass along the shore, just resting and minding her own business. Since were were catching bluegills right and left, I put on a Zoom Mocassin Blue 4 inch worm and flipped it to her left side. She turned, looked at the worm, and darted over and inhaled it. And I saw it all happen! So, we went to a larger worm and put it about a foot from her and she took it. The guys are right, throw something the bluegills don't want. Quote
