Stupid question possibly

How to you fish a finesse worm?  Do you cast it out and let it set on the bottom then just twitch it back along the bottom, do you swim it back, or let it sit, raise the rod and let it fall again.

I am a self proclaimed power angler, give me a crank bait, jerk bait or spinnerbait and I am very comfortable,  but I am trying to learn the patience for finesse fishing but without really knowing how to present it, I feel like I am just practicing casting.

Finesse just means smaller bait smaller line. I dig out finesse stuff when I am fishing cold water, pressured water, clear water, and spawning fish. You don't fish finesse stuff any different from your other stuff just remember your using light line and try not to put to much pressure on the fish when you fighting them and make sure you have a good drag. It would be a good idea to learn how to drop shot. This is a great finesse worm tactic.

To my knoledge there is no such thing as a spcific finesse rig. A finesse worm is just a downsized streight worm with less action and less vibration.

I power fish my finesse worms with a 1/4oz Spot Remover Jig. I cast out to my target, hop it a few times and burn it back then repete. I cover as much water as I can and catch the mess out of fish. I fish it fast and slow on just about any type of rig. It is called a finesse worm just because it is smaller. There is not rule that says you have to fish it slow.

      Rig the finness worm on a jig head. 1/8oz is what I use.  Simply wind the worm in slowly across the bottom. You can also twitch the worm in slowly. Try both methods.  You can also fish finness worms on drop shot rigs. Use a heavyer wieght for this rig. KVD caught an 11 lb. 15oz bass on a finness worm on a jig head. Have confidense in it and I think you will like finness fishing.

I used to not have much confidence in it but now it's one of my favorite and most effective ways to fish. I put a trick worm on a 1/8 oz. or 1/4 oz. jighead and hop it, drag it, and I've caught a few swimming it back.

I catch most of my fish on finesse worms. What i do is get a 1/0 hook with 8lb test line. t-rig it and cast it out and let it sit for as long as you can stand it. lift you rod and then let it sink to the bottom. Let it sit for about 5 to 10 seconds and do it all over again. I perfer Medium action rods for this but every one has there own setup............

There are two ways that I prefer to fish finesse style worms.  First, is on just a 2/0 EWG Gamakatsu hook.  No weight.  I will start off twitching in fast.  If there are no takers, then, I start to slow down the presentation.

Secondly, I like to fish it on a jighead.  I like 1/8 oz. jigheads.  After casting it out, I will watch the line as it falls, cause some bass will hit it on the fall.

After that, I will swim it along, and let it sink back to the bottom.

However, today, I was fishing a Icicle Zoom Finesse Worm on a 1/8 oz. jighead.  The only fish that I caught came on quite a strange retrieve.  I had to twitch the lure in place for 5-6 seconds and then, jumping it 5-6 inches off the bottom, in a quick jerk.  The second time I did this in sequence, my line started swimming up the lake.    I had a nice 2 lbs. bass on the other end.

Finesse Huskertko means that instead of nuking them with big baits you 're going to use "conventional" warfare, smaller sized offerings and that 's all, it really doesn 't mean that you should tie them to 2 pound test either, it 's just that you 're using smaller offerings, for ex: you were nuking them with 6-8 inch worms and today they are not in the mood to hit them, time to take out and tie your 4 inch worms ( "conventional" warfare ) or 4 inch grubs.

Thanks everyone.  I have been using Strike Kings floating finesse worms with a 1/4 ouz wieght on a 2/0 Gammy hook, tied to 4lb Zuri hybrid.  

From the sounds of it, I am fishing it correctly, guess I am just not finding any fish.
