Bassattackr Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Don't remember where I've heard this but want to know if there was any truth to this.. Is gary yamamoto the grandson of Gen. Yamamoto who planned/commanded the attack on pearl harbor? Any relation there? Quote
nwgabassmaster Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I believe that I heard the same thing, but I am not sure if that it's true. Even if it was, Gary is a great guy. In 2001, I met him at the ATL BPS. Although I doubt that he remembers it, I talked to him for a good hour, about the lures and stuff, and he was very up front, very honest, and very nice. That was several decades ago, and this is the 21st Century. Quote

Bassattackr Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 Even if it was, Gary is a great guy. Yeah, don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to belittle him or anything, he's a great fisherman and a great guy from what I hear. But was just curious... I believe he's orig. from hawaii. Yeah Flyrod, admiral/general, what the hell. Haven't looked at them history books in a while! ;D Quote
Super User Marty Posted August 14, 2005 Super User Posted August 14, 2005 Yamamoto is the 8th most common Japanese surname, so the odds are pretty good that Gary isn't related. For comparison, the 8th most common American surname is Wilson. Quote
