Biglouie Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 What do you all prefer to fish if the fish seem to be hitting both and why? I'm fishing the muddy brown WI river. Shallow rocky current areas and doing well on tubes and jigs. Pretty new to this type of fishing. I was just curious as to what you all prefer. Thanks. Quote
nwgabassmaster Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Definetly jigs. I have a lot more confidence in jigs, than I do with tubes. I have never really had real good luck with your run of the mill tubes. I have, however, had great success with the NetBait Baby Paca Craw, which is a craw mimic that is made into a tube. I have fished jigs for 7 years now. As I said, just a confidence thing. Quote
Curado Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I usually like tubes just a little better but if there hitting them both I'd go with a jig cause it will catch more bigger fish. Quote
earthworm77 Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I'm a jig guy but when they are on the tube....that can be some easy fishing. Quote
cgs2004 Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 In murky water I'd be more apt to tie on a jig whereas in clear water I'd go for a tube. Quote
Dirk_Jig-lure Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 My advice would be the addition of RATTLES !! Either use a jig with enough weight to maintain contact with the bottom but with a rattle. This will help the bass to locate the lure. Try adding a bright trailer white or chartruse. With a tube once again i would still stay with a bright color, but in addition i would also add a RATTLE. In local tackle shops look for a rattle you can insert inside the tube. The fish fill be able to zero in on the lure. Stay in contact with the bottom. Personally i like a Jig early in the season when bait is scarce. I like a Tube late in the summer after spawn to resemble small baitfish. ** Low Budget ** Style 8) Quote
