bassguy Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 i fish at a pond/lake that has lunkersand it is fished pretty heavily. when i walk down there i can see 10+ pounders swimming in the shallows. i try throwing everything in my tackle box but i only got one on a texas rigged lizard awhile ago, should i just use live baitfish Quote
MyKeyBe Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Get a net and jump in there and grab those hawg's. Just keep trying different baits until the fish tell ya what they want. If they are in the shallows I would start out with some sub surface lures. Flukes, slug-go's, baby 1 minus. Something along those lines. Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 29, 2005 Super User Posted July 29, 2005 Aggravate them. Bother them. Make them want to suck in and crush your bait. Then, they will take your bait even if they are not hungary as it is a nuisance to them. Good luck and be sure to let us know how you do. Quote
albiechaser Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 sneak up to em, try a weighless dark 10" worm. make sure your setup can cast it far. hardly move it at all, just alittle twitch once in awhile. remember once you can see them, game is over, if you know about where they are dont walk right up there, think like a deer hunter. lol bow hunters make the best fisherman. good luck, ps alot of folks here wish they had your problem Quote
playmaker47 Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 try a weightless trick worm like ablechaser said. just slowly twitch it around. also try a Zoom Super Fluke in shad color. rig it weightless and it looks identical to a injured baitfish falling. Quote
DDbasser Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 bassguy, I used to fish an old strip pit like that, crystal clear and full of good fish. the only way I ever had any luck was to wear camo and sneak up on that pit and stay low in the grass, if the fish ever saw me it was over from that location. I also fished it right at dawn and dusk with good results. I wish they had flourocarbon back then. I've seen even small bass swim up to my line look at it and take off. Good luck and stay persistant!! Quote
Nick_Barr Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Try Drop-Shotting a Creature bait. preferably a big one. You can also swim the drop shot past em Quote
