To a certain point yes I do collect, I have a couple of tackleboxes stuffed with gear and baits I purchased back in the 70 's and 80 's that I don 't fish anymore because they are no longer in production and they are almost irreplaceable. I have Sonics, Supersonics, Zara Spook II, Bagley 's Baby Bass series in photo finish, Baby Bluegills also in photo finish, Big O 's, Rapala Husky Jerks in balsa wood, Rapala Shallow Fat Raps to name a few.

I would not say I collect, I just don't ever seem to get rid of old tackle. I still have all my stuff from 20 or more years ago, and still use it all the time.

I don't think I have anything that would have collector value, but still remember a fish I caught with this rod or that rod 20 years ago and think of how much fun it was, so I guess they have value to me.

I'm the same way. Iwas asking because I just bought a 6 apartment 1876 victorian and I am living in one of the apartments. Its got a ton of charachter and I was planning on doing the kitchen (small) in all fishing gear. My buddies dad gave me his fly rod from when he was a kid (and he grew up w/ my dad), hexagon bamboo, pretty cool. THis is what I've got so far.  Please excuse the mess.

Looks good to me.  That might drive you nuts to look at everyday though when there's ice on the lake ;D.  I will be buying a house here in the next couple years and I am planning on doing an office/computer room something like you got.

I've tried to start a collection a couple of times.  Trouble is I can't NOT use the old lures and equipment.  some years ago I caught a nice bass on an old creek chub pikie minnow.  It's a metal lipped jointed plug that had faded paint and toothmarks in it.  It was such a thrill to catch that bass. It was only about 14" but the feeling I had was "priceless".  Unfortunately, that lure was lost in the jaw of another nice largemouth.  I have other stories.  Remember the Helin Flatfish?  I had one in orange................well, so it goes.

I collect everything from old steel telescopic fly rods, to old steel bait casting rods/reels to old lures and early plastic lures too.  Even my old stuff from the 70's is collectable now too I have seen my old DAM Quick spinning reels that i still have and they still work in antique shops for double the price i paid for when they were brand new?  I kind of cherish my old stuff now.  My misses found a bag of stuff at a clearance sale at an antique shop in Maine while we on vacation once.  It was full of 50's and 60's stuff from reels to lures.  Even the old steel tackle boxes are worth something now too.  I got an old wooden mouse lure for $2 once then i seen in for sale for $30 right after.   You just never know what this stuff is worth its all not listed, so i buy and save it anyway no matter what it is worth if its cheap and affordable.  I'm sure 30 years from now my new stuff nowwill be worth many $$ too well a few more $$ anyway.                                               BigBill
