playmaker47 Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I would Recomend getting somthing thats down on the very bottom shelf. you can usually get alot of stuff in a kit or somthing for less than 5 bucks Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted July 17, 2005 Super User Posted July 17, 2005 I wish I could go lure shopping and just spend 5 bucks. Quote
Pa Angler Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Yeah, there's no way I can go lure shopping and spend only $5 you have more willpower than I do, my hats off to ya dude. Chow The Pa Angler Quote
SBM-RL Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Ya thats crazy its hard to spend less than $5 on just one lure Quote
fishinfool Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 These days its hard not to spend more than $5 on anything. Some lures are like $10, no way I could only spend $5. Quote
el_jewapo Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I assume you don't have very much to fish with as of now if 5 dollars is a big deal for lure shopping. If I didn't have any bass lures and only 5 bucks to spend, this is what I would get at Wal Mart. 1. 99 cent chartreuse/white spinner bait. 2. bullet weights. 3. worm hooks, 3/0 the cheapest I could find 4. whatever bag of worms you can afford with the rest. I'm pretty sure you can get that list for just about 5 dollars. If not, try to find a dollar store like Freds. Some of them sell fishing lures. You should be able to find cheaper stuff there. Quote
BassMaster Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 what the heck can you get with 5$ man! are you some kind of poor hobo who fishes for survival and to get some feed. i mean come one... i would say atleast spend 30$ of tackle for a day's worth of fishing...... SERIOUSLY! Quote
gc Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Seems a bit harsh there Bassmaster. If he wants to try and get by on $5 for tackle then more power to him. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there throwing $20 lures with little skill or thought about what they're doing (and catching few fish). And a lot of people getting by happily with cheaper gear. Quote
Grubber Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 I don't think that fishing has to cost much money bassmaster if I spent 30$ daily and went fishing once a week I would spend 120$ I could buy a new reel for that much Think about it Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted July 18, 2005 Super User Posted July 18, 2005 30 each day I fish. You have got to be kidding. Last year alone I fished 228 days that doesn't include the ones I forgot to log in. That's 6240$ if my math's correct. I would be a hobo after that. Because my wife would kick me out of the house and divorce me and take everything I had and that would be it for fishing. That's just bad economics. Grubber if you can go to Wally World and pick up something that works for you for under 5 bucks I say great for you. You are better than me. Quote
Max-in-Mn Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 You can get alot of stuff for 5 bucks. Usually around here tackle stores have jig bodies priced at 4 for a buck and jig heads 4 for a buck. So...technically, you could walk out with 20 items for 5 bucks...not bad. Quote
Hookhead Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 If I didn't have any bass lures and only 5 bucks to spend, this is what I would get at Wal Mart. 1. 99 cent chartreuse/white spinner bait. 2. bullet weights. 3. worm hooks, 3/0 the cheapest I could find 4. whatever bag of worms you can afford with the rest. What he said but more in depth: 1. 99 cent chartreuse/white spinner bait. 2. bullet weights. 3. worm hooks, 3/0 the cheapest I could find (south bend EWG) cheap! 4. whatever bag of worms you can afford with the rest. (6" Renegade worms, Purple/blue or Tequila Sunrise) - $1.50 There it is folks!!!! Quote
FutureClassicChamp Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 5" senkos are not even under 5 bucks here!! i spend at least 40 to 100 bucks every time i walk into a bait shop. i always stock up on stuff so im not buying stuff that frequently. Quote
BassMaster Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 ok, so i was being too harsh, its just that 5$ just sounds way to "limited" to me if you're tryin to catch qaulity bass. i was kidding about spending 30$, i would actually spend about 10-20 dollars for each trip ( or more if i'm goin to stay for the weekend)! : Quote
