fishing with floats

Which floats are better ovals or pencils also are slip bobbers better than fixed I do alot of fishing with bobbers and night crawlers and need a little help on which rigs are better thanks

When you use a fixed bobber when you cast it the thing kinda sling shots out there. This isn't that bad when your fishing shallow or not making a long cast. The slip bobber's are better when you are fishing deep because the bobber falls down to your splitshot and you are only casting the distance between your splitshot and your hook not the total depth of however deep you set your bobber stop. Style of bobber is really up to you.

Yeh just back from fishing a local lake today for some bass but the blue gills were hitting my nightcrawlers on every cast but I caught some nice gills thats the only thing about fishing this lake for bass the gills love them crawlers more than the bass

No i don't but i've been wanting to try it just need a little help on getting started on what to get and how to use them colors, rigging , ect

well for starters i would get spinnerbaits. they are extremely easy to use, just cast and retrieve. you said that you had lots of bluegills gitting your worms, so get spinnerbaits that are colored to look like a bluegill. walmart has some for $1.00 a piece and they work great for me. jsut cast them along the edges of weedlines and reel them in. also go to the begginers section on this site and it will teach you a ton about all different kinds of techniques. heres a link to it. i would recomend reading all of the articles http://bassresource.com/beginner/beginner.html

One thing I have been wanting to try (and almost did this weeken) is fishing a senko type bait, wacky rigged, from a bobber.  This could be a good technique for suspended fish.  The reason I didn't is that there was no wind and not enough boat traffic to give the bait any kind of action while suspended.  This would be kind of a variation of a vertical drop shot approach, but would require more patience than I usually have.  You would need a medium sized bobber, probably round would be best, for this technique.  I have another tournament this weekend, if I get the chance (early limit  :-/) I might give it a try.

Thanks my local walmart has a good selection of spinnerbaits what weight size should I get I fish with spinning gear my set up i use now is a 6ft berkley lighting rod and a guide series spinning reel for gander mountian will that work goog for spinning baits or is the rod to short

anything will work good for spinnerbaits. make sure you have at least 10 lb line on it though. i like 1/4 to 3/8 oz spinnerbaits.

Yeah shadmaster I would like to try that to I've tried fishing wacky worm style before but didn't have to much luck may I didn't fish it slow enough

Thanks I do have a spinning setup with 10lb line I mostly fish with either 6or8lb now because I like the sensitivety of light line so that will be a change

Hey playmaker whats better colorado blades or willow leaf or a combination type

i like colorado when the water is muddy and i like willow in clear water, but a combination will work anytime.

Yeh the lake i fish on is mostly clear so i guess the combos will work fine thanks for the info Isee alot of good size bass on this lake in 5to6ft of water will the spinning baits get me down that far I'm blessed this is the only clear lake around here its so fun to fish on this time of year
