I caught a big fish in the lily pady on a topwater, but I get snagged a lot.  Are there ways to make you top waters weedless, or are there weedless topwaters, besides the plastic frogs, rats, floting worms...  I want to be able to use a propbait or chugger. ???

I use a white mouse (hook is burried in) or a green from (same). Then you can drag them through the heaviest of crap. If you get the boil and they miss it, throw a heavy jig out where they boiled.

Works great.

Something we used to do when I was a kid in Arkansas was use a Johnson Silver Spoon with a white pork trailer.  These are weedless and can be allowed to drop down in the pockets.

Johnson Silver Spoons with a trailer, Heddon Moss Boss, and my current fave, the Scumfrog are all great for paddin' bass.

I agree with alloy up there.  The spoon, or a Tournament Frog work great.  If you miss a fish, try throwing a large plastic worm, jig, or sometimes, even a soft jerkbait (just let it fall slowly where the fish boiled).  Have had alot of success with these trechniques.  Especially fishing in the California Delta.   ;)

cephkiller nailed it right on the dot. also i like to use weightless Zoom Flukes and weightless Zoom trick worms. they are almost as good as topwaters, because they sink slowly and they still get some good blowups from fish.

Suthernprog is right, try a Heddon Moss Boss. It is the only true weedless topwater I have ever used. If you have thick enough slop on that lake bass will hit these things even during mid-day under bright sun.

Manns company makes a walking weedless bait called a ghost and a smaller one called a goblin. Strike king make a popping frog also scumfrom makes one, snag proof makes many different styles of weedless lures so your not stuck just using a frog all the time. I had a jitterbug style lure one time that was weedless.

ihave been fishn a zoom horny toad with some success, and it is unique because you can let it sink in the holes as you are buzzing it across t he top of the pads.  I like to buzz it on to a pad, stop for  a second and slowly bring it off the pad, let it sink, and hold on.  The color I won't recommend becaise we are using yellow and I think that is probably a local fav.
