BD Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Ok longer post, but I like to think things out and give details. Help me guys, decide where to fish this weekend based on the conditions I know. Plus I have never been to any of these new lakes (to me) so I don't want to decide on a name only. Hence where you all come in. Tomorrow-Monday: HOT and sunny in the whole state (90+ w/ 43% hum.), low wind speeds through the state, rained last night and possibly tonight as well. Side note: The lakes my buddy and I have been fishing recently, the post spawn is definitely in swing. I have caught some nice fish (2-4lb's up and fat) but not #'s like we are use to catching. Also electro fishing #'s on all the lakes are very good. With all this in mind, which lake would you go to below, and if you care to say why you think "x" lake would be better or not. ;D ------ Lake A: 50 miles away. 712 acres. Some good shoreline access I have been told. Water clarity is good. Depending on if they are taking water for power (it's a pumpback which just set the states smallmouth record btw, but it was caught in march) the lake could be 4-6' down, or if they don't take water this weekend, it could be normal. I can call tomorrow morning before I head out to check levels. Close to a lot of other lakes including Lake B, and plenty of places to eat (I say this for the wife....we like to try new food places) Blurp on the lake: New state smallmouth record came from here. Great fishing I hear depending on the water level. ------ Lake B: 10,900 acres. Same distance for arguments sake. I would assume enough shoreline access with that big of a lake. It has pretty much the same water clarity as above lake, and they don't fluctuate the water. Blurp on the lake: Known as one of the best bass fishing lakes in OK. It's also 10,000 acres... ------ Lake C: 45-50 miles away. 550 acres. You can walk the whole lake I am told. Ranger said it's about 4' down and because of this, water is murkier than normal. Since you can walk the whole thing, I thought it might be good, but lake has parts that are 30' deep, and the bite has been slow he said. Food places are not as readily available as the other lakes, but it has TONS of picnic areas for a romantic lunch Any other conditions, details, questions please let me know. I (over my choices) really want to check out A, but if the water is being pulled, not so good.... HELP!! Quote
Muddpuppy Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I would be on the stumpiest most remote lake in the state this weekend, if I wanted to to any serious fishing, they will be packed by 9:00 am. If your going to make a weekend out of it with the wife and kids if any I would probably go with the accomadations. I have only fished on a few in s.Oklahoma so I can't offer any recomendations. Have you checked the (it seems Ok. is a little different then Texas on how they are listed) anyway The Parks and Wildlife site or local fishing sites for a fishing report? Quote

No overnight stays anywhere, and these lakes aren't swimming/jet ski type lakes. I am in the NE part of OK. Yes, all places will either produce or they won't. Based on the above lakes, which would you pick guys? Quote
kbj3579 Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I would go with lake C - Shore fishing only, sounds right, if you can walk the entire lake. Lake A might be a possibility if you check the water level. My experience is, and I fish a resivor myself which water level can change alot, if water level is down it screws up the fishing big time. Lake B - to many unknowns especially the bank fishing. Just my opinion. Quote
Shad_Master Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Fishing on the 4th of July weekend is like going out drinking on New Years Eve -- it's best left to the amatuers I would pick the most secluded spot. Quote
Muddpuppy Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 C but it's not my fault if they are biteing at a. That seems to offer the most selection as far as lake accessability, from the way I read it. Any way good luck and have fun. Quote
Livin4Fishin Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 wherever you go you should consider fishing at night since its 4th of july weekend. Quote
