Water Depth

Where do fish go when the depth of the water is the same all around.  I fish a small river that doesn't get more than 5 ft deep.

Fish the river bends or any change in bottom like a muck bottom to a gravel bottom. Fish places that have current breaks like a big rock or log. Also if one side has a steep bank or a place where bait will be washed into.
