Male= smaller fish and no egg sac in belly

FEMALE=Bigger Fish and their is a egg sac on the belly, after the spawn it is usually the bigger fish

Look between the fins. I was told by a Dion Hibdon that a female bass has a bump that sticks out on its lower lip that a male does not have. The vent on the under side durring the spawn is larger than a male. You can not judge the sex of a bass by the size unless they are on the bed. Male bass grow big too but not as large.

On fish up to 5 pounds is hard to say at simple sight, if it weights more than 5 you can bet it 's a female with 99.999999% of certainty, in smaller fish ( 5> ) you can dye the anus with a drop of methilene blue, wait a couple of seconds and rinse the area to remove the excess, males have two orifices in the genital papilae, females have 3.

I've heard you can tell by eye color.  Females have dark brown eyes and males have light brown eyes.

female bass have dark brown eyes, usually larger than males.  male bass have light brown eyes, almost an amber color and are usually skinnier than the females.
