Fishing for Spotted Bass

I had a great awakening on Monday.  A pal and me went fishing to my regular place.  He took me to some spotted bass locations.  All he fished with were brush hogs.  I fished those and some finesse worms.   It seems spotted bass act more like Smallmouth than LM.??  They like rip rap, and seem to move around more.  

Anybody have any other types of baits that seem to work well for Spots?
