Baggs Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Hello, OK so I have done a little fishing and not had much luck. I want to step my game up a little and get some large fish. I not long moved to the center of Missouri and was wondering if 1. Are there any good places to go and have a great days fishing and 2. What is the best tackle to use? I have a host of tackle now all telling me that it will give those big fish but all I get are small fish (And I mean small).:-[ If anyone has any ideas I would be most grateful. Quote
bassinjack Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 im right with you on the small fish probbly 40 out of 41 fish i catch are less then 2 pounds but give it time and that big bucket mouth will be there you are forshure doing something right tho if your catching fish i have found when you go to biger baits and slow down the presintation the fish seem to get bigger as well Jack Quote
Shad_Master Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Not sure what you mean by "central Missouri", but you may want to try Truman Lake or Lake of the Ozarks. Both of these are great spots for hookin a hawg. As for stepping up your catch, what baits are you using? I would concentrate on jigs and soft plastics to pull in the bigger ones and don't be afraid to use bigger baits to catch bigger fish. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 23, 2005 Super User Posted May 23, 2005 Beaver, Table Rock, Bull Shoals and Norfork are close enough for a weekend trip. Reelfoot, Kentucky Lake, Barkley and Pickwick are some more options for a little longer drive. I don't much about Stockton, but it's probably close to you, too. Quote
