Spawning Season

good question. the spawn part takes no time at all but the male guards the nest for a month or so

It all depends on water temp. all that stuff takes place in the 60-70F temp.

i read it starts when the water hits 50 degrees

I think yankee got it on this one, The spawn will get going when the water temps get in the mid 50's and stay there(or go up) for a while. Our water is getting in the mid 50's and the fish are already moving up into the muddy creeks.
