Do you fish in a boat or on the bank?

At my cabin be don't have a boat yet so I fish off the bank and do pretty well usually. We are geting soon for this year and I can't wait to have for range in fishing the lakes and getting to places I can't reach on land.

What do you do fish in a boat or off the bank or both?  This topic is just to see what people like to do best not just for advice.    [glb][/glb]Fish ON!!!

being 17 i'm limited to the bank but i'm trying to get some friends interested in buying a cheap jon boat, but so far the bank has done pretty well but i haven't fished much big water

Im 18 bout to turn 19...I prefer to fish the lake on a boat because there a lot of structures out there...also just being out there is a rush. I'l hit the bank up everynow and then...especially a pond.

I'm still pretty new to fishing and I haven't talked my wife into letting me buy a boat yet.  I like the ability to focus in on a small section without the temptation to move to another.  I'm still trying to hone my skills.

Until I get through college I fish off the bank, but fish out of boats during tournaments.

If your limited on funds look into a float tube, under $100 and you can fish most lakes like a boat.  Plus its a lot of fun!!

I get out boat fishing about 20 times a year, but spend the rest of my time bank fishing, usually twice a day.

I only own a 10' two-man boat that I get out if: 1. I have time and 2. it's not windy.  Other than that, I fish from a "real" boat once every couple of weeks when I get invited by my father-in-law.  I bank fish every single day that I'm not in a boat though!  We have several small lakes, a larger river impoundment with a hydroelectric dam and a power plant lake with a warm discharge area.  I fish for crappie, walleye, catfish, sandbass, hybrid-striped bass, perch, or whatever will bite my line from the bank!  Oh yeah, of course, bass too!  Bank fishing is real seasonal though.  I usually use smaller lures--Roadrunners, crappie tubes, rooster-tails, grubs, and small spinnerbaits all work well for all of the species mentioned besides catfish.  Now if I'm in a boat--whole different ballgame!  Boating is my favorite but I won't let not having one ruin my fishing!

I fish out of my Grandpas boat when he or Grandma wants to go out. When they don't wanna go out I take out my Pontoon Boat. I agree with Spencer if you don't have money for a boat get a Float Tube. I fish in a club that uses Float Tube's or Pontoon Boats only, it's alot of fun.

I do it all. I have a 10' car topper that I can launch but it takes 2 people to launch. It's great for small ponds but if I can't get a fishing partner for the day I'm stuck on the banks, which doesn't bother me too much. I still catch fish from the bank.

I also have a 19' bass boat that I take on the big water (Lake Erie) and I love it too.

Basically it doesnt matter where i'm fishing from as long as I'm fishing I'm happy!!

I fish from a canoe.  I fish smaller lakes, 500 acres or less usually.   I have limited space to store a boat and my canoe can hang in the top of my garage.  I find I can get to places which harbor fish that boats can not reach.  I also like the quite and solitude the canoe offers.  You can purchase a very good canoe for $1,000 new and a good used one for $400 - $700.   There are department store quality canoes for even less.

When I want to fish larger water I either rent a boat or hire a guide.

I fish both bank and boat. I have a great time doing both. I own a 14' Duraboat with a 9.5hp. I also canoe fish. If it is in the buget, invest in small boat to get to those "special places" that you can't get to other wise. Enjoy! ;D

I do it all.  I Bank fish occationally but I really enjoy taking the family bass boat or or taking my kayak out.  Taking a boat out just gives you so many more options and opens up alot of new places to fish.

I fish out my 20' champion bass boat most of the time . I still like to walk the banks though when just fun fishing here and there.

I do both quite a bit.  During summer, when I'm at home from college I can use my Dad's boat pretty much whenever I want which is very nice.  I'm lucky he trusts me and my brother enough to use it because we pretty much live in it during the summer.  When I'm at school I just bank fish for the most part.  I have a tube that I used a lot last year but haven't got it out yet this year.....I've just been too lazy I think and most the water around school here is just ponds.  So I bank fish....My brother came and visited me for his spring break this week.....took him out today and he blasted me.  Outfished me 7 - 0 and had a 6 pounder and a 4 pounder.  It was quite humbling to say the least but he's a good fisherman too so I didn't feel too bad except for the fact that I got skunked.....Just wasn't my day I guess.

I grew up pond-hopping and fishing banks, and when my buddy and I got in high school, we use to put the 12' johny or canoe on top of the jeep and fish streams, creeks, little lake and ponds.  

These days I haul a boat wherever I go fishing, in fact, leaving today for Lake Seminole for a week.

BUT, still my favorite times are going to my wife's family's ponds and BANK fishing.  Something about that you just can't match, and usually is where I catch my better fish.   Simple is many time better.

Both. I love to fish from the bank this time of year. I have several public lakes in the area that are walk in only and they are great.

Well I have to fish from the bank. Buy the time I pay all my bills there is just no money left. Hey the main thing is just fish slow and have a good time. No matter if it's in a boat or from the bank. I plan to do a little bank fishing tomorrow. I am carrying my 2 year old on her first fishing trip. Maybe she will show daddy how to fish

I really like boat fishing a lot more than bank fishing- easier to cast, you can bump something like a jig down a ledge as the water gets deeper, you can fish on both sides of the lake or river. Also, a lot of times when you get stuck you can just go to the other side of what you are stuck on, like a log, and just reel in.

That said, I often find myself bank fishing.

I dont have a boat but my friend has a 14ft aluminum boat with a trolling motor on it, and that is what i fish in. I still fish from the bank, but much rather fishing from his boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
