Great article Craig!

Deep water really appeals to me, but I think it's too difficult and way too boring for most guys. Stay closer to shore, fish shallow water, catch more fish and have more fun. I don't want a bunch of guys out bothering MY fish!

And one more thought, if it's gnarly & nasty you're probably going to get hung up and lose your lures. Don't do that! Fish where it's safe. Those big girls that live in the trash are my fish, too.

p.s. If you haven't read Craig's piece, it's featured this week on the HOME page. Everyone will enjoy it and maybe we'll get a few interesting posts and some new discussion from it.

Well I leave your fish alone if you'll send me some of those Fat Ikas! LOL! just kidding

Went to Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine Texas Saturday and they didn't carry the Fat Ikas in the store. All the carried of Yamamoto's stuff were Senkos and Creatures. I was disappointed. :( Guess I'll just have to order some direct!

cgs2004, If you get down this way I'll introduce you to a few, but you have to give them back!

Skeeter6598, I like them a lot, I bet you will, too.

I took my father-in-law out crappie fishing last weekend.  This man is an avid fisherman.  He fishes at least twice a week.  I ran across the middle of the small gravel pit we were fishing and tossed a buoy out over a brush pile I found on sonar.  15' water and the pile ran up to about 8'.  He just sat there while I caught fish and kept asking when I was going to move over to an emergent tree we had already fished without success.  I mean he literally did not put his jig in the water!  This post was made just for people like him.  I could not believe what I was seeing.  He is truly a bank-banger of the highest order. ::)

Nope!  I live on a 89,000 acre lake in Oklahoma, and they don't even have a good tackle shop around here. The best one is on the other side of the lake from me and it's an hour drive to get to it.

Anywho,    Back to the article. Thanks Craig for all the information you covered.  I know for a fact that dropshoting will be my trial and error technique this summer.  I see you love your plastics, which is understandable, but I was wondering why you don't use that many crankbaits ?  Is it just the area you fish or your proficiency with plastics?
