Invisible bedding bass

Just wondering on how some of you guys catch your bass off of a lake that isn't clear, when they are bedding, what tactic do you use...and what kinda presentation?? ???

I fish shallow water on the northern end of the lake, or areas with good southern sky exposure.  Pretty darm good chance there are bedding fish there.

why the northern end??

Its because the northern end is more pretected from wind, or atleast thats what Ive heard.

First of all the north or northwest parts of a lake, cove, cut, or creek arm are the first areas to warm up, because they are protected from the much colder north wind, and due to the angle of the sun, they get more sun than other areas. The key is protection from cold wind.

As for the "Invisible beds". If I am fishing a spawning flat it doesn't matter what the water clarity is. I am going to fish it from a distance to start with. I like to start with something on top first. Like a prop bait, floating jerk bait, or a sammy. Then I toss some type of suspending bait and fish it real slow. Next I will use a Carolina rig with a lizard or a craw and a stand-up jig with a craw. After that I will move in and start looking for who's left. Move very slowly and stay as low in the boat as possible.

North End and i use a spinnerbait and a jerkbait.

If you want to cheat a little take a bobber and put enough line on it so that it will reach the bottom and still lay flat and have a weight on the end of the line. Then drag it along the spawning flat until the bobber tips up and then use it as a marker to pitch to. Tie the bobber on an old crappie pole.

I wish I could do that. In a tournament can only have one pole in the water at a time.  Since we have small lakes around my home town, Someone would see 3 poles in the water and not 2...wouldn't be pretty at the ramp....lol

Yeah but in a tournament you cut the line when you hit the spot then put up that rod and then grab your flipping stick. Just make sure you pick up your trash when your done.

Shallow to semi shallow northeast side. Warms up quicker in the spring. Plus, that is where they are every year!  I use plastics,  small jigs, spinners and small crankbaits.
