I have a little 12' boat that I use only for fishing at my uncle's private lake. I was jacking around in that little thing and my foot slipped and I just about went over the side. The only thing that got wet was my foot. I never realized how much water a size 10 Nike would hold.  ;D

Last year during a tournament my Co-Angler bent down to push my boat away from a piece of a tree as we trolled past it. You guessed it, the branch broke and she spun around and landed in the Mississippi River. For about 1/2 a second it scared the crap out of me, but when I saw that she was ok I laughed my butt off. The bad thing was it was pretty chilly out that and she was soaked. Being kind of the Smart A** that I am sometimes, I told her to look at the bright side. She said, "what is that?" I told her that she was riding in a 75mph blow dryer and we were about to go for a 20 mile run.  lol  She didn't find as much humor in that as I did.

About 3 yrs ago, my friends and I went on a Canada fishing trip.  We were fishing out of 16' lund boats with the motors that you steer with your arm on the shaft connecting to the motor(not sure what they are called).  Anyway, we were fishing an area pretty good and once the bite slowed down we decided to move.  We took off and got to a good speed, Id guess 40 or 50mph.  I let go of the shaft for 1 sec and before I knew it, the motor jack-knifed 90 degrees and we made a perfect right turn at 50mph.  The boats nose came directly up while swerving sharply right.  We come to a stop and Im all disoriented.  I look around and see that my friend is flailing around in the water 20 feet behind the boat.  I see that all is well so I find the situation funny.  I slowly take the boat to him and Im in a good mood laughing but wouldn't you know it my friend yells at me because he thought he was going to be eaten by a Muskie!

Mine wasn't while fishing, but in my buddy's 30 ft. cruiser.  It was one of those when you have one foot in the boat and one foot on the dock, the boat starts fading away, you pull your groin, and go face first into the lake.  It wouldn't have been so bad except for the fact it was at the Lake of the Ozarks, July 4th, at an extremely crowded gas station on the water, right in front of a restaraunt window, and I was dressed in nice clothes (we were going to dinner on the water).  Probably the most embarrasing moment in my life.

Well, what can I say.. I pulled the classic cartoon scenario. One foot on the dock, one foot on the boat. As physics would have it they split apart, as did my legs, before falling into the lake. lol

Squid and I were out fishing, I'm in front of the boat, we got hung up in some sunk logs with branches coming out of the water. I put one foot on a log, hold one of the branches with my hands, then give a big push, and the boat went out but I stayed there on the log, and the log just went under water. By the time Squid got back to me, I was wet up to I disagree ;D

While pre fishing one day here on my home lake I decided to fish a fluke around the docks. Well Dad went with me. He was showing me where several of the guides kept holding nets in their boat slips when the bait is tuff to catch. As we were going around the end of a dock he told me to skip my fluke under the end because there was a holding net. Well we were moving pretty fast and I skipped anyway without hitting the trolling motor to slow us down a bit. Low and behold about a 6lb black was following the fluke and I was reaching back with one hand holding the rod to keep the fluke in front of her and trying to reach the trolling motor to stop the progress of the boat. (Bad body position to be in) She finally hit the fluke and when I gave the one handed hook set the rod came out of my hand.  I instinctively went to drop on one knee and reach for the now sinking rod. Well I was off balance and SPLASH I ended up in the water. Did get the rod and came up and handed it to dad. As I crawled back in the boat he says, "Look what I caught while you were swimming!" Haha real comedian I thought. I said well at least I didn't loose that rod and reel. At the same instance he asked, "where did those 100 dollar sunglasses that were on you head go!"

Lake Pickthorne in Jacksonville, AR. Middle of summer with nothing on but a pair of cut off shorts. I was fishing in the middle of a stump field full of Florida strain and just hammering them with my Culprit Tequila Sunrise worm. Had two old guys about 40 yards from me wearing out the monstrous improved bream that's in the lake when a big old bass nailed my worm and wrapped around an underwater limb. Being that I was standing on the very front edge of a 14' Quachita with a casting deck on front, hind sight tells me that putting the hand controled trolling motor on high to reach the fish without paying attention to other underwater obstacles wasn't such a good idea. I got slungshot off the front and made a dive the olympians would have been proud of. I was only in about 3 feet of water and don't think my foot ever touched the ground. With rod in hand I drug myself back into the boat to only get a standing ovation from the two old guys that witnessed the whole thing. I even went as far as to give a bow for my performance as I laughed with them. Unfortunately their laughter turned to dropped jaws when I finally got to the 7 lb 4 oz bucketmouth that was still hung on the limb. I thought it was worth getting wet as I let her back in the water and those two old guys were yelling that they wanted to keep her.

Close but still funny...

On the Mohawk River and fishing by myself.  Wind is howling at 40 MPH or so.  I pull up to the dock to tie up and get the truck.  I stepped onto the dock and reach back for the boat.  It is floating away and I missed it.  Now mind you, there are easily 40 people standing around.  I look ahead of my boat floating away and its heading towards rip rap, downed trees...tons of crap to screw up the boat.  By now the boat is 9, 10, 11 feet away.  I throw caution to the wind and run and leap towards the boat hooking my elbows over the side but my legs are under it.  I kick and claw my way into the boat and get it back over to tie down to the launch.

So here I am people laughing everywhere.  My jeans, sneakers etc.. soaked as wet as can be.  I go "squishing" my way over to the truck totally embarrassed.  Just them some guy hands me a flyer and says "We are giving a safe boating course next weekend if you are interested".  I almost put that flyer where I wanted on the guy but I had to just laugh at myself and go home.  SO FUNNY, I almost wish one of my buddies got a chace to witness it.

Mine wasn't angling.  Several + years ago my wife and I were at a State Park that I used to spend alot of time at in highschool.  We had gone there for a cookout with some of her friends.  While we were there, I managed to convice her that we should rent a paddle boat.  Now this is in late fall, it's cool and we are fully clothed.  I have consumed alot of groceries and gained a few pounds since the last time I was on one of these rigs. We were talking about how we  used to dive off the front of the pontunes when we were younger.  Sometime during the conversation I stood up and stepped on to one of the pontones and eased my way towards the front of the boat, causing it to dip into the water and kick up the rear.  Before I could get back to the seat, she freeeks out and jumps off the boat, causing it to completly flip over on top of me.   Luckily there were a couple of ladies nearby crappie fishing who towed us into shallower water where I could flip the thing back over.  My wife was not impressed.

Small pond.  Overcast and rainy in July.  Great day, caught some really nice fish.  Just kind of casting a spinnerbait,  leaning back in my seat relaxing.  Heard a crack, dropped my rod in the floor and did a perfect back flip just like a scuba diver does.  I was back in the boat just a fast as I went in the water.  Good side of the story beside not being hurt,  no one saw it.  Bad side, $150 brand new Nextel on my belt.  I will never have my phone on my person again while fishing.  When my phone dried months later,  it still works.  But it cost me $150 then because it was a company phone.

My local club has a "human bobber" award that is presented to anyone who "takes the plunge" during the year at our annual banquet.  I was one of the lucky recipients this year.  We were fishing a calcutta tournament at a local lake near my house.  That morning my regular net man (12 year old son) had decided he didn't feel good when I woke him up at 5:30 so I hooked up the boat and headed out without him.  When I got there I found another one of our club members didn't have a back seater, so I decided to leave my boat in the parking lot and ride with him.  He set up the seat on the back of his Nitro, but used two poles to set it up and it was way too high for me to sit on, so I decided to just lean against it, kinda like a butt seat.  After fishing for a while, we stopped to talk to some other guys fishing and as we started to move off, I leaned back against the seat, but only caught the corner of it.  This caused the seat to swivel and my feet got crossed and I fell down on my hands and knees on the edge of the boat.  My buddy turned around to see what the commotion was and this caused the boat to rock in my direction.  By this time, my butt was higher than my head and it just pushed me out into the lake head first.   I now have my "human bobber" award proudly displayed on the wall of my family room.

I am not sure why this keeps happening to me. I will be typing along and the measage will just post. Anyway I could not shake the bait loose so I thought I would be smart and put one foot on the bank. Well I got wet after doing the splits.

The second story is I took my chyropractor and his son fishing. Well he had to take a leak and could not bring himself to go out of the boat. He ask me to take him over to a big laydown that was vertical to the bank. The end of the laydown was in about 10ft of water. Well I took him over to it and held the boat for him so he could walk down the log and pee on the bank. Well he put one foot on that log and woosh out from under him it went and it was bath time. His sone and I laughed so hard we could not stand up. ;D

Was bass fishing on a small pond in a canoe by myself.  I leaned a little to far to the right to release a fish.  A split second later I was upside down.  It was the first time I ever heard a Large mouth laugh!
