BassFishingMachine Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Okay, let me first say this. I once found a way, in which to take a tube jig, and enter it into a tube doing the least damage possible to the tube, enabling me to rig it weedless without having a big hole where I entered the head of the tube jig. Only problem is I have forgottten how to do this :-[. I cannot manage to figure out how to rig the tube weedless without creating a huge hole in the tube due to entering the head of tube jig into the body of the tube. Again, let me say I used to have a way of doing it that didn't do much damage to the tube at all, and im sure theres others out there who also know a way. Could you please refresh my memory? :-? :-/ Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 2, 2009 Super User Posted January 2, 2009 T-rig, weedless like any other soft plastic. This can also be done with inserted weights, not jig heads. 8-) Quote
bigfruits Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 i like the owner phantom tube hooks. very clean and weedless. a little expensive however. you can find them for less than the link below but the link has a diagram of how they are rigged. http://www.histackleboxshop.com/Owner-Phantom-Tube-Bass-Hook-p/owner-hook-bass-phantom-t.htm Quote

Wonder if they'd have em at Dicks, I know they carry Owner hooks.. Quote
bigfruits Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 not sure but make sure the limited weights and hook sizes are what you want before you make a trip out there... (3/16oz is the heaviest and only available in a 5/0) i think i ordered mine from ***. i love that place. gives me an excuse to spend over $50 for the free shipping Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 You need a small hollow tube and a nail that fits into the tube. Cut the head off the nail and glue it into the tube. I used an aluminum roofing nail and a piece of rabbit ears from a flea market. 1. You put the gizmo into the tube and push it through. 2. Put the weedguard into the gizmo and push the jig head into the tube while you pull the gizmo out. 3. When the weedguard is exposed, pull it through 'till the eye is showing. 4. You're finished I like to lube the inside of the tube with WD40 or petroleum jelly mixed with garlic powder. That makes the process easier. Quote

I also recommend them. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 Yamamoto tube weight that hangs on the hook on the inside of the tube so you can T-rig the tube without a bullet weight. Quote
Super User CWB Posted January 3, 2009 Super User Posted January 3, 2009 Being the cheapo I am, I have found that a 1/16 0r 1/8 oz. dipsey sinker works just as good as any "tube weight" and is easier to rig than most. Just t-rig as you normally would but right after insertimg hook into nose (3/0 ewg wors great), fish point thu loop in top of sinker you have inserted into tube. You can push sinker so it is almost ready to break thru front of tube and see where you need to put hook in. Works great and you can get 10 weights for 2 bucks. Quote
