bass109 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Coming out with the new X rap shad ;) , rapala does bring it to the extreme. :o Quote
bass109 Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 what do you think about x rap shad? can this new lure be a new big bass killer. ;D Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Is it a crankbait or a long billed jerkbait? Quote
Infidel. Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Probably what ever you want it to be. I frequently use the Shad Rap RS size 9 as a jerkbait, and I have caught a lot of large snook by cranking a husky jerk. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 31, 2007 Super User Posted January 31, 2007 whatever they are, I want some. Quote
CJ Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 With the new X-Walk or whatever and the new X-Rap Shad look like they simple put a feather tail hook and new colors on the Rattlin' SR and Skitter Walk. :-? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 31, 2007 Super User Posted January 31, 2007 i dunno, I don't think they'd add the Xtreme part to it if they didn't change it. I'll bet they added the internal balancing stuff that the X-rap has. Quote
jb_adams Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 All you have to do is change out the trailer trebble hook with a feather hook. Hmmmm......I need to do that with a few more of my baits. If it works, there goes the crankbaits. I'll change out anything under a D14 to add some more action to it. Quote
Bud Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 look like they simple put a feather tail hook Look like that about all they did. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted February 1, 2007 Super User Posted February 1, 2007 Looks like a Shad Rap with X-Rap tendencies. I gotta have some!!!! MY two most productive lures are the Shad Rap and X-Rap, so if they hybridized (if that's a word) the two, I have to at least try them. Falcon Quote
jb_adams Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 How do you fish them? I've never had a strike with either? Granted I haven't thrown them much because I don't have confidance in them. They're so small, I usually never throw them very often. What works best for you? Shallow water with a crankin' retrieve kicking up silt on the bottom? Quote
Crabcakes Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I like the looks of that bait. Looks like a shad rap you can cast much further. And a feathered treble never hurts a baits action. Quote
BadKarma42 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 With the new X-Walk or whatever and the new X-Rap Shad look like they simple put a feather tail hook and new colors on the Rattlin' SR and Skitter Walk. :-? I agree. Isn't there some cliche about lures cathcing more fishermen than fish? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted February 1, 2007 Super User Posted February 1, 2007 yes, but there is also a cliche about judging a book by its cover. You can't just assume they only added a feather, I'll be willing to bet they changed the internal weight system to that of an x-rap or at LEAST something similar. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 2, 2007 Super User Posted February 2, 2007 Where can I buy some? If they are suspending I need at least 4 from that chart. Suspending shad raps are an excellant spring and fall bait that can be fished like a deeper diving jerkbait. Allen Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted February 3, 2007 Super User Posted February 3, 2007 jb_adams, I use the SR07 and the original X-RAP and have great success. The St. Clair smallies and largemouth love them. Keep throwing them I think you might change your mind. I fish the X-RAPS with a sweep and pause, they usually hit on the pause. Falcon Quote

I once heard an FLW Pro say that the shad rap was one of his "go-to" baits when searching for bass. I like the look of them, maybe mine is just one of the smaller models and I need a bigger one. Bass around here just don't seem to strike at smaller baits. Thanks for the tip! Quote
bass109 Posted February 4, 2007 Author Posted February 4, 2007 The Rapala x rap shad isnt out yet but i think it will be out this summer. Quote
