Snag Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Ok, please stick up for me on this one guys. My girlfriend thinks I need to see a shrink because I tie on plastics and work them in the bath tub for practice to get the action down. Am I really nuts or is this a normal practice like I tell her it is? Dear god, I must be addicted lol.... Needing help in Ohio, ;D Snag Quote
GamblerFL Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I have fished the pool many times....never had a hit yet!!!!! Quote
abelfisher Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 When I wa a young boy, I used to go out into my front yard and practice my casting. One day, someone drove up, stopped, rolled down his window and said" Hey, the fish are biting on 7th street!" lol ;D ;D Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 27, 2005 Super User Posted January 27, 2005 Since when we fishermen have even a little bit of sanity ? nobody in his right mind is going to be in the middle of the winter with subzero temperatures, freezing his butt trying to catch something through a hole in the ice or getting cooked under the blazing sun in the middle of the summer having his brains roasted at 110 ;D, which is a perfectly normal behavior for us. Nick.Culver Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Don't worry my mom says the same thing about me. Plus I always take my fishing rods when I go to my aunt and uncles. To see how my cranks and other lures work in their pool. Just tell your girlfriend about Takahiro and his pool. He built one just to practice working his lures. Now that be you. Atleast you haven't gone so far as to buy a pool to practice in yet. LOL Quote
Nick_Barr Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 :)Everybody i know thinks i a a bassoholic i eat drink and sleep bass fishing. i have practiced in my jacuzzi before. Quote
earthworm77 Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Pool and jacuzzi are acceptable tub is out unless it is jetted, sorry, dude, your girlfriend might be right on the money! Quote
squid Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Snag, My question to you is...Are you sitting on the toilet when you are doing this?....lol Then you might be a redneck...lol Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 27, 2005 Super User Posted January 27, 2005 Nope, you are not crazy. Zell Rowland told the participants at the Richmond, Virginia Bassmaster University this past weekend to test your lures in the bathtub, especillay the suspended ones to make sure they are suspending correctly. Super User Raul Posted January 27, 2005 Super User Posted January 27, 2005 Snag, My question to you is...Are you sitting on the toilet when you are doing this?....lol Then you might be a redneck...lol No sir I do not, when you gotta go to where the king goes by himself I always have my BPS catalog at hand, you have plenty of time to look at all the cool stuff. Quote
pigpounder Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Nah your not crazy,I've done the same thing and I know that there is nothing wrong with me, with me, with me with me :-/ Quote
Fisher of Men Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I've never cast a lure in my tub, but I have caught plenty of "sand" bass in my yard. AND speaking of the BPS catalog, yes it accomanies me to the throne lots of times. There's no telling how many times I will flip through the pages (knowing exactly what's inside). There's a routine at my house. When I get home I look for the mail, and ask my wife, "Is there any good reading material?" She rolls her eyes and says, "No, you'll just have to go alone today!" It is then and there that I reach for the trusty BPS master catalog. About a half an hour later, I hear the question, "Did you die in there?" ;D But there's nothing like a trip to the john when the new "Bassmaster" arrives! Quote
Stickling Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 One thing i dont understand is, If you try it in a pool wont the chlorine smell get on the lure and repel bass? Quote
Will Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Oh, no you are not crazy by testing your lures in the tub. Do anything that makes you a better fisherman! Quote
JHall Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 You mean to tell me you can fish from the toilet??!! Man, my mornings just got better! Quote
JHall Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 In response to your dilaema, tell your girlfriend she needs a shrink because she changes clothes x many times before she goes out. When she tells you that it different, tell her she is just trying to see what things look like and you are simply doing the same. Either that or start fishing buttnaked from the front porch and if she asks what the heck you're doin, tell her, "Shhhh... the trees have ears and they work for the FBI and they are trying to steal my top secret cast so they can bring down the KGB but instead I am showing them an altered version of the cast that will only feed the children of Ethiopia." , then see if fishing in the bath tub seems weird to her. About a half an hour later, I hear the question, "Did you die in there?" Are u shure your wife and mine aren 't related ? mine says exactly the same to me ;D. Of course I switch from the Angler 's Catalog to the Saltwater Catalog and to the Hunting Catalog, also I have a nice collection of fishing magazines at hand, it 's unbelievable the ammount of information you can get just being there doing your business. My kid is 2 years old and we take him to the daycare center during the morning, his teacher asked us if we could send some magazines for him to cut out pics and stuff like that, well he went to school with a bunch of old BPS catalogs, it 's never to early inlife to break them in. squid Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Hummmm....that is funny. I too have lot of magazines for reading....lol I might use that story one day. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Raul, I just tell her it's a "man" thing. She just doesn't understand. I also have one of those "Bathroom Readers". You ever seen one of those books? I'd like to see the demographics of those who purchased it. Probably more men, or bought as gifts to men. -FOM Quote
duncast48TN Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Just dont practice with your "worm" when shes in the tub. You might get a bite! Quote
