kicken_bass Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 whats the best set up for fishing for smallmouths in heavy rocks Quote
playmaker47 Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Use a brown jig with a crawdad trailer. Quote
squid Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I used a Goby bait by Poor Boys Bait. They were awesome in Muskegon Lake, MI. They look like a big tadpole. If you can find them...buy them. Quote
Chris Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I have done well with a dropshot, crankbait, spinnerbait, small swim baits, and a small spook Quote
Mainer Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Texas rigged small tubes are a good choise for smallmouth. Quote
Big_Bass_Rich Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 I hate to be the one who does this generic response - but it depends on where, how deep, season, temperature, weather & a lot of other factors. There are a million ways to fish rocks, experiment a bit and you may be surprised. Quote
L.D. Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Depending on your situation( depth, current, wind, ect.) I'd use a big tube(for me thats 3 1/2") and the lightest jig weight to go in it and still touch the rocks, so I could work it slow around the rocks and not get hung up as quick. L.D. Quote

tritonman Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Pumkin tube craw on a football head jig, slow rolling across the rocks Quote
LUNKER Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Got a link to the Football head jig? Thanks in advance. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 25, 2005 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 25, 2005 It's not a brand, it's a type of jighead. Owner and Gamakatsu make them, as I'm sure many others. Quote
Nick.Culver Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 A tube with an inserted weight works very well. Has no hook or weight outside the tube to hang up. Quote
