njvbass Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 What did everyone catch their lunker on this summer. For me it was a 1/8 oz doulbe prop Hart buzzbait, white. The fish went 6.2# on the berkeley digy.caught him 6 in the morning. So let's hear it Howd them hogs come in for ya this past summer. Quote
Huskyhush Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 I didn't catch a big hog, but my biggest was caught on a lake fork eight inch worm in green. I really like the lake fork products, but no one in town carries what I really like to use. I caught it at a farm pond right by shore where it drops off. Next year I plan on trying more places now that I have a boat. Places that aren't farm ponds. Only thing is I will have my first baby in my family being born a month away so I won't get to go as much, but I will get to take my future wifey with me to go. Quote
njvbass Posted November 13, 2004 Author Posted November 13, 2004 Been there last year and will be there again this year.Like rabbits around these parts.been married one year and the wifes been pregnant the whole time.Trust me you will find time to get out of the house.lol! Quote
kajun Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 I didn't catch any lunkers this summer either. The biggest one I caught probably barley broke four lbs. I caught it using a quarter ounce jig with a black skirt and a YUM crawlbug. Quote
Chris Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Last spring I caught a bass 9 1/2 lbs on a white zoro 3/8 oz single colo blade with a #11 white uncle josh pork on the end. I was slow rolling the bait down a tree and killed it when it reached the end of it. Quote
Pond-Pro Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 My lunker of the year was a 5.3 lb. smallmouth that I caught this spring. The fish hit a flashminnow jerk bait. That fish put up an awesome fight! ;D Quote
JT Bagwell Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 My biggest bass this year were primarily caught using 3 different baits (not in a particular order). 1. Jig and Pig 2. Scum Frog 3. Yamamoto Kreature JT Bagwell Quote
Super User Marty Posted November 15, 2004 Super User Posted November 15, 2004 My three biggest of the year, none of them lunkers, but still one of them my personal best, were all taken from shore on Senkos. Quote
Mike H. Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 dont know how big it was, but it took a watermelon/red flake senko. Quote
MKYxD Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Sadly my biggst fish this year was a 3lb 6oz. Caught it on a pros choice pro-v shad in baby bass color. Quote
duncast48TN Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 I caught a 5-4 on June bug BrushHog on Ky Lake. Not real big but my biggest yet. Quote
bquittem Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 i live in MN, and i caught 5 bass over 5 pounds on a lake which im not going to mention, but 4 of them were on an offbrand of senkos which are way better called trick sticks made by big bait bites. the other was on my favorite black/blue denny brauer pro model jig with a super chunk trailer Quote
JHall Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 During the first part of the summer, it was the 4" Yamamoto Senkos in June Bug, then, seemingly overnight, they took a liking to 5" Redflake Wave Worms. No lunkers yet, as I just learned to fish this summer and I enjoy telling all of my fishing buddies that I invented fishing this summer... oh.. and just me between me and ya'll.... I think it is catching on. Jeremy Quote
BassMaster_1 Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 I live in NY, Biggest one i got was early spring, 5lbs on a watermelon/chart crawbug. Got many 4 to 3 lbers, but managed that 5 lber, it was only my second bass in the 5's. This spring will be different, got my eye on a few monsters that got away. I have the whole winter to plan for them Quote
Fisher of Men Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Sorry to say that I haven' t been as much this year. I did catch my first smally, about 1.5 lbs. on a rapala countdown. My biggest largemouth producer is a watermelonseed lizard during spawn, and plum powerworm in the summer. Quote
Fatdaddy150 Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 ;D I caught a wall hanger this year!!!!!!!!!!!! I made a trip to Texas, went to Sam Rayburn and on my first day 3/16/04 I caught that fish of a life time. 12lbs 6oz!!! I didn't have a guide and it was the very first time I had been out on this lake. I caught it within 100 yards of the boat ramp on a rip rap bank. I can't remeber the name of the ramp but I caught the fish on a 7" powerbait tournament strenght worm, pumpkinseed color with a 1/8 oz brass sinker on 17lb test Trilene XT green line. ;DTook a couple pics and put that big ole pot bellied hog back in the lake!! :)Stayed three more days caught a lot of fish but none of the others weighed over 4lbs. Tight Lines, Fatdaddy151 Quote
Chris Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 I would say that most of my big fish this year 5 lbs or better came on black and blue jig and pork, 2 different kinds of spinnerbaits both with pork trailers, creature bait by yammamoto. Past years most came on crankbaits. Quote
Aaron_S Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Chris, where do u get those yamamoto kreatures? Thanks Aaron Quote
reellittlephish Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 Heard Yamamoto was having difficulty keeping up with demand for Kreatures. Direct order here: http://www.insideline.net/ Didn't boat anything this year I would consider "a big fish" i.e. double digit. Two strong producers this year in Nevada were 9S watermelon red flake 4" senko#208 in spring and watermelon redflake tube post spawn which morphed to shad and bluegilll laminate pattern by summer. Began using snag-free tube weights which I really like. Gamakatsu EWG hooks increased my hook up ratio. All the bigger fish came on brown or black jig with Yum craw trailer Quote
L.D. Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 My best this year was a 5.2 lb smallmouth caught on a Case Plastics tube in Green Pumpkin color. We have lots of bass in the river, but it's very rare to get one over 5lbs. Must be all that exercize they get swimming in the current. L.D. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 1, 2004 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 1, 2004 Yammamoto isn't having any difficulties at all - but their marketing would like you to believe that! Quote
Chris Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 I know i cleaned out the stores around here that sold them. lol I am sure you can still get them on line. I doubt they will run out. Quote
Chris Posted December 1, 2004 Posted December 1, 2004 yamamoto came out with a two tone kreature this year. www.baits.com 800-645-2248 Quote
Maineiac Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Twas an odd year way up here in the North East. Weather seemed to keep us all guessing (including the fish). Still was able to take some good fish on a number of baits but the best 3 came on a 1 and 1/8th ounce rattle trap that is made for striper fishing. At the right time of year in lakes with Alwives they are deadly. 7 inch Senkos in Black with large blue flake (021). And Tiki Bamboo Sticks in the same color (another message on here about that sorry issue). Then it was standard 5 inch Senkos in Black with large blue flake, black and blue laminate (the grandson's favorite) and then peanutbutter and jelly. After that I guess Chompers Techo Tubes in 4 inch and Bitsy Bugs with Yamamoto twin tail trailers. Quote
earthworm77 Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 I pretty much make 95% of my own baits. I have been making super sized flipping tubes that have been doing very well. My largest bass of the Year came on a Grass Jig. Quote
