Chris Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Can anyone think of some creative ways to fish this stuff? I'll give you two of mine one use a tube instead of a rat. When the fish blow up on it the tube slides down in the hole and wham! The other is use a plastic worm. What i do is thread the hook down about two inches so its texas hooked in the middle. By rigging it this way the weight of the hook will make the worm fall funny in water plus most of the strike are in the middle of the worm where the hook is. Quote
Pond-Pro Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 I use a stickbait and make my casts to holes or edges, that is usually where the fish are. It is fun to watch a bass hit a frog or rat though!! ;D Quote
Chris Posted November 19, 2004 Author Posted November 19, 2004 Another great way to get them to bite is to flip a strikeking jig and spin. The bait has a weedguard and a spinnerbait arm and blade. When you flip it the bait it the blade spins on the fall. Quote
Will Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Sometimes using a heavy slender jig or rigging a soft plastic with a big bullet weight and pitching the rig as high as you can up to let it gain alot of momentum to drive through the slop. Be ready for an instant strike though. Quote
Chris Posted November 20, 2004 Author Posted November 20, 2004 What i like to do is get a lake map and figure out the main lake features like drop offs, ledges, points or humps and flip it with a jig. Its places like this even if the weeds are up that fish tend to hang around and also draw fish to. I think mainly because of bottom content or hardness. Quote
bquittem Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 i often fish slop on my home lake in MN. when i know im gunna be fishing some slop that day, i will bring a rake a clean a few pockets to come back to and fish, its sounds wierd but it really works. another good idea is to make the frogs rats jigs or worms that u throw a little bit custom. for an example i started puting a jingle bell into the center of my frogs to give it some more noise. i think i have increased my catch with this modification. Fatdaddy150 Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 8)I made a bait that I use just for fishing this stuff. I took a one oz jig an made a cork cover for the head. The bait is heavy enough to penetrate this stuff and the cork allows it to have a slower rate of fall. Use a heavy action rod and big line to jerk the fish out of this stuff!! Try it , it really works. Tight Lines, Fatdaddy151 Quote
Chris Posted November 24, 2004 Author Posted November 24, 2004 A weed walker is another great bait for this stuff. Its like a plastic spoon with a blade on it. You use it by buzzing it ontop of the weeds. Quote
