Super User roadwarrior Posted December 8, 2004 Super User Posted December 8, 2004 Not new, and I'm sure you have it, but for the new guys: Smallmouth Bass an In-Fisherman Handbook of Strategies. It's everything you need to get started. Quote
earthworm77 Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 That's one I surely want, I have the LMB edition and it is good. Quote
Mattlures Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 You guys should read " In pusuit of giant bass" by the late Bill Murphy. It is the trophie hunters bible. The techniques and stratagies will work anywhere and that book has definatley helped me catch more big fish. I also like "tracking Trophies" by John Hope, I think :-[ in this book the author puts transmiters in big bass and studies there habits in there natual inviroments Very intresting Quote
Mike H. Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 One I like is "Bass Wisdom" by Uncle Homer. Ive seem to miss-placed it though... Quote
SENKOSAM Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Horatio Hornblower - a series by Forrester. Fast moving and historical. Sharp's Rifles a series by Bernard Cornwell. Both are based on actual land and sea battles during the Napoleonic war and gives information never learned in history class. Get the videos if the books are not suitable to the type of stuff you read, but the writing is fast paced and many of the character, real people. They should be read in chronological order. Sam Quote
earthworm77 Posted December 11, 2004 Author Posted December 11, 2004 Although I'm not a huge fan of Larry Larsen, I'm reading all of his Florida specific location books as I'll be moving down there this summer. Quote
crankbait Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 I'm currently reading "the moon pulled up an acre of bass" by Peter Kaminsky. It's about striped bass fishing on Montauk Point, New York. So far so good. ;D Quote
Shad_Master Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 One that I really enjoyed was Think Like a Fish by Tom Mann of Mann Bait Company. There's not a lot of fishing technique and stuff, but it is a great read by a legend in the business. Made me laugh -- made me cry. Check it out if you get a chance. Quote
Seanathen Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 I really only started bass fishing at the end of this last summer. I found "The Bass Angler's Almanac" by John Weiss at the library. I started a bass fishing notebook to take with me this season based on much of the information in this book. A VERY good reference to start with for all you Newbies!!! Sean ;D Quote
Nick_Barr Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 BASSIN WITH TH PROS is at any barnes and noble also the bass fishermans bible is a n excellent choice. i wish a bass pro would write a biography Quote
Will Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 It doesn't have any fishing tips and techniques if that is what you are looking for, but Bass Boss is a good book. It takes you through Ray Scott's life and then how he created the largest sportfishing organization B.A.S.S. Quote
GamblerFL Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 I am reading Roland Martin's 101 Bass-Catching Secrets. It is a pretty good book. A lot of information. Quote
BCAlbin Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Recently blazed through both of Kevin Van Dam's books. They were both great! Bass Stategies and Secrets Of A Champion. I got mine at BPS, check 'em out. Quote
