Stickling Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 I have a fish tank beside my desk and was thinking about putting baby bass in there. When they get big enouphill put em in the pond next door but my question is, what should i feed them when they are so small? Also its my 200th post anniversary ;D Quote
ernel Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 I would go for some freeze dried shrimp to start, then small insects. As they get bigger move up to small shiners. As they grow you can increase the size of what you feed them. Quote
Stickling Posted January 18, 2005 Author Posted January 18, 2005 where would i get freeze dried shrimp? That would be introducing them to something new and when i threw them in the pond they would want a shrimp kabob ;D Quote
ernel Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Any store that sells fish will have them. They come in a bottle with small little cubes inside. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 18, 2005 Super User Posted January 18, 2005 My friend had a largemouth in a fish tank and fed him goldfish of all sizes. Really sharp to watch him eye the gold fish and then...bam! The goldfish was gone. Goldfish come in all sizes and he got the larger goldfish as the bass grew. Quote

BassMaster Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 I once had a four inch largemouth in my tank and it grew to be 24 inches. All I fed it were huge nightcrawlers when it was four inches. and then feed them goldfishes that are 10 cents each at a local pet shop! Quote

Will Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 I have had some bass and at first like ernel said dried shrimp work good. After the bass got bigger I feed him minnows from the river or nightcrawlers. Quote
