In Montana, it is illegal for married women to go fishing alone on Sundays. And it is illegal for unmarried women to fish alone at all. This law is so critical to the upholding of ethical behavior in the state that the Billings Convention and Visitors Bureau featured the tidbit of information on its website.

(Mouth drops open, heart breaks...!)  Oh! I went through Montana once and the land, it's waters and hills, it's beauty, captured me. I loved reading "A River Runs Through It," where the joy of fishing was so well described I never forgot it. Wonder what Montanians would think?

It's probably what's called a "Blue Law". Laws that were written in the 1800's or so when society felt women were weak and needed protection. The legislator has just never gotten around to having it repealed. Many communities leave them in place becasue they are "cute" and not enforced.

I would also advise staying away from Massachusetts.

If a certain individual's behavior at the BBQ restaurant at the KY lake Roadtrip was any indication, you will not be safe.

He actually tried to steal away the waitress that was flirting with me.

Ken, any waitress flirting with you has very poor eyesight and should be carrying a white cane. :P

I think she saw my wallet and never looked up.

P.S.

When is the last time you snuck up on the mirror and took a good look before it broke? ;)

I fish alone most of the time from my 16 ft canoe...some people just don't get "boat etiquette." Some of those ski boats have me rocking and rolling! Would like to try kayak fishing but I'd have to avoid those lakes.

Its funny but its not like its inforced.

Reminds me of the law they found on the Simpsons where they had to catapault criminals from town.

That sounds like a hell of an idea..., maybe I can get that going around here "UFFDA!, DER GOES ANUDDER ONE!" :happy-127:
