SmallieGirl Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Are they holding the Lake Wheeler tournament in March? (That was suppose to be the 1st stop on the WBT circuit. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 28, 2010 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 28, 2010 Their first stop is Lake Bob Sandlin, TX. So I was misinformed. Here is their schedule: http://site.womensbassdivision.com/Page_2.html Quote
SmallieGirl Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Thanks for the clarification Glenn. I thought maybe they changed their minds about Wheeler! I was so crushed when I found out I wasn't going to Wheeler this yr.! Looks like the rest of the stops are the same though. Quote
quietstorm Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Wheeler had been notified long before the WBT made there announcement to cancel. They quickly moved to get another group into that slot. But we do have Wheeler for 2011. Quote
ladeeAngler Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I am still debating whether the WBD will be my debut. So far I'm leaning hard towards being in Pittsburgh, TX for the first stop. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Keri Posted January 30, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 30, 2010 I'm hoping to get to the Belton event this year. Hope to see everyone there. Quote
ladeeAngler Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Ok, I'm going to do it. After much support from my family and friends, I have decided to make the WBD tournament at Lake Bob Sandlin be my first tournament. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time but I'm sure it should be a good time. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 10, 2010 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 10, 2010 That's way too cool. You'll have to post about it here and tell everyone about the experience. Hey Sabrina - any new news about the trail? Any website updates? Quote
quietstorm Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Glenn, I apologize for taking so long to respond....I have been preparing for a tournament this weekend on Toledo Bend, and I'm hoping we won't freeze to death. :-/ The website is doing well registration is slow, but I'm hoping it will pickup once the local newspaper ads start running. quietstorm Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Went to the Bassmaster classics this weekend and met so many new people. And I saw a lot of my old friends from the WBT. Had a meeting with Triton Boats that went very well. Triton Boats are now going to be sponsoring the IFBBA and the Women's Bass Division. Our events will now be sanctioned as "Triton Gold" events. Triton asked me to pass this along to the ladies, that Triton is standing behind us 100%. They believe in what we are trying to do. The press release that was suppose to happen at the classics didn't happen because of mis-communications. But they will be sending out press releases to the fishing industries to announce there support of us!! I could not be more proud that finally we are being taken serious by the fishing industry!! Ladies....registration for the Womens Bass Division is picking up! I'm excited about that! If your thinking about fishing just go to the website and at least get your deposits in. The host hotel will be Days Inn Mt. Pleasant 903-577-0152 they are giving us a special rate of $49...they have block the ground floor rooms for us so that you can park your boats in front of your rooms. So please get your reservations in soon. Quote

Fearless Falcon Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I only hope a lot of us out there are still chompin at the bit. I am from Tallahassee, FL and have been tournament fishing for approx 2 years (fished for fun my whole life) and have nothing but great things to look forward to thanks to this promising new division. I am grateful to know that I still have some dreaming to do in this field. I was saddened upon the news WBT brought however now with even bigger spirits. Thanks to those keeping it alive. Only wish I were there to help. Can't pitch in this year but I will hopefully see you guys next year. Until then keeping a close eye on you all and good luck to all the ladies. fishinfantatic Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I wish I were more experienced... I would LOVE to do something like that. All I'd do is pay to fish! I haven't even been fishing a year yet-- and just got away from a nightcrawler and bobber! Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I wish I were more experienced... I would LOVE to do something like that. All I'd do is pay to fish! I haven't even been fishing a year yet-- and just got away from a nightcrawler and bobber! I feel like I am contributing to the pot too, but I consider it getting experience and I want to compete in the LBAA some day. Probably when I retire. I have the Stratos Owners Tournament out on Lake Kissimmee this weekend. (2 day). We are still still trying to find some quality fish and may have to make the run up to Toho. All I got Saturday was some hits, but no takers and one VERY large Pickerel on a jig. It was at least a 5 lber. My husband got a 10lb catfish on a jig. It was exciting until we saw what it was. Quote
fishinfantatic Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I need a fishin' buddy. I've just moved to a new town with a huge lake, but I don't know anyone here to fish with. My roommate (who got me addicted to fishing)isn't quite addicted herself. I drive her crazy. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted January 26, 2014 Super User Posted January 26, 2014 Update for 2014? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 26, 2014 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 26, 2014 B.A.S.S. eliminated the WBT under protests that it gave women an unfair advantage for entry to the Classic. However the LBAA is still running as an alternate - although there isn't an automatic entry to the Classic for the champion.  Ironically, B.A.S.S. now has the college series, where the champion has an automatic berth to the Classic. I'm not sure why that's acceptable whereas before it wasn't. I mean, it still gives exclusive privileges to a select group of anglers.
