Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 22, 2010 Super User Posted July 22, 2010 It's sad to see the womens forum so sadly under used here. I guess their too busy fishing or whatever to use this great outlet for them. What a shame. Quote
bear7625 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 It is a shame. We seldom see the ladies responding to any of the forums. I think it would be interesting to get their viewpoint. Quote
Deb Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Hi guys....glad to know someone misses us! : I personally do more reading than writing. I've responded to a few posts and well........let's just say some of them haven't been too kind. That plus I've become addicted to facebook so it takes up a lot of free time Hopefully when the LBAA kicks off the tour, more ladies will become more active on here. (that's September, on Dardenelle) 1 Quote
basswitch Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I too am glad to see that we are conspicuous in our absence! I can't speak for any of the other ladies, but in the summer my computer gets sorely neglected. I've been too busy putting a floor in my boat (all done, looks great!) and catching my personal best largemouth at 4lbs and in Wisconsin, that is not a fish to sneeze at! 2 Quote

You're right, a 4lb bass in Wisconsin is a great catch. I've been fishing all over the state for many years. Bass fishing in wisconsin is making a big come-back thanks to the catch & release part of the season. Keep it up, you will be breaking your PB real soon. 8-) Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Keri Posted July 26, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 26, 2010 All the women are fishing not writing. LOL ;D I have to agree with Deb, I do more reading then writing. With the LBAA kick off at Dardenell and hopefully a great schedule set for 2011 more ladies will join in and get to talking. 2 Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I just had the lower unit replaced after dealing with the warranty issues and then insurance co..But I got the call an hour ago it was ready. Sooooooooo I'm looking to get fishing this weekend. 1 Quote
scbassin Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Hey Deb, Don't let things get to you. Glenn runs a tight ship & the bad ones will get a pink slip. Some of the members will sometime get a little forceful making there point & get caught up in the heat of things but all is good. I have a good buddy over in Pineville KY that bleeds blue also. He is forever calling me to tell me about those pussycats or what ever that team is called Good Luck on the tour this year. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 4, 2010 Super User Posted August 4, 2010 Pink slip issued. Quote

Deb Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Pink slip issued. Man I love the MODS....at least some of them Quote

Thanks, The warraty examination said the splines were twisted and they tried to say it was improper reversing, so they wouldn't cover it. But further exam on the splines showed it wasn't that, so it must have been an impact or something. I do know we came to a sudden stop at 60 MPH when the unit blew. But whatever, at least the Insurance co replaced the lower unit. The most interesting part is being towed by an airboat and the insurance company saying they didn't have a preferred tow provider except the Coast Guard. FYI, I don't think the Coast Guard operates in Lake Kissimmee. Quote

laus Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Hi! Just curious...why do you all think there are so few female fishermen? Any comments on reception of women in local bass clubs? Thanks for this forum, Glenn! Quote
Super User senile1 Posted February 21, 2011 Super User Posted February 21, 2011 I think it starts with the way boys and girls are raised. Some families are more likely to point a boy towards fishing and hunting than a girl. I'm not saying everyone is like that but I think there are still a lot of people, especially some men, who still think this way. Regarding the BR women's forum, in my opinion this specific forum is about bass fishing and news or issues that relate to women participating in bass fishing. There are other forums about rods, reels, boats, equipment, lures, etc. in which some of our women do participate. I could be wrong but I think this forum is idle for long periods because most of the subjects related to bass fishing are covered in other forums on this website. Additionally, there aren't as many women participants in the membership. 1 Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 I have to say my experience has been very positive in the couples club and the other tournaments that I have been in. If I could afford it on this government pay, I would go to more. As it is, we just pick and choose when and where we go. My husband and I are planning a trip to Okeechobee for a weekend in May and try out our new Lowrance. Quote

scbassin Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Granny there are probley 2 reasons you did not get into a all male club. Wives & bathroom issues. When I was club fishing they had a rule that you could not leave the boat & that could be tough in a 6 hour day if your drinking water or coffee. As for me I would not care for I don't have a wife & the bathroom problem would be the ladies choice, but if I had to go I'm going. Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 (edited) I'm not complaining at all, I was the one who bought the boat and have the (I think) best fishing partner ever..Fishing Cowboy. Just due to the economy, we budget when we can fish a bigger tournament and thourghly enjoy the smaller couples club once a month. Edited August 10, 2011 by Fishing Cowgirl Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 11, 2011 Super User Posted August 11, 2011 Not too many years ago women were not allowed to play golf at many clubs even if there was a family membership, some allowed play on Monday's only. The men just didn't want them on the course, some clubs like Adios here in Boca Raton do not allow women on the premises, even to work. It's all about male bonding. When it comes to a fishing club I can understand the same feelings. Do men want to join any kind of women's clubs? Quote

Fishing Cowgirl Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I would have brought up the subject of improper hardening of the splines. I didn't think of that. This is my first boat. Atleast we are out and running in it, fishing as much as possible. sfritr. There is the option of finding an old enamel chamber pot for your wife. I have a small one that can be stored in one of the compartments. I haven't had to use it yet, but it would be easier since she doesn't have to be "on deck" to use it. If the guy's have to "go", they do. I just turn my back. Quote
Southern Fishing Gal Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Hi. I am a new lady member and am looking for some fishing partners to fish with in Louisville, KY and surrounding areas. I don't have a boat; so I typically fish from the bank. However, I would love to hook up with some non-smoking, fishing folks that love fishing and 1 or 2 that have a boat...I have my own gear and can pull my own weight and contribute to the cost for fuel, food, etc. I have a home-based business and can generally adjust my schedule to accomadate fishing times/dates...weekday, weekends, etc! So, feel free to contact me anytime if you too are looking for a fishing buddy and possibly eve a new friend Quote
