Super User roadwarrior Posted March 20, 2011 Author Super User Posted March 20, 2011 Most of our fish, about 40 bass and a few drum, were caught on a Norman Fat Boy, Bomber Square A or Lucky Craft R.C. 2.5 & 3.5. The Rage Tail Baby Craw produced a few, too. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 20, 2011 Super User Posted March 20, 2011 Must have had a pretty good time Kent based on the way your smiling. That blue headed bait must have been working. It that a stock color? Quote
Rangerphil Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Nice fish! I really liked that blue headed bait also! Quote

Daniel My Brother Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Oh sure, you caught some big fish...but did you have any fun? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 21, 2011 Author Super User Posted March 21, 2011 I kinda hate "wasting" a beautiful day and great current on green fish, but the bite was on BIGTIME! We never really went for smallmouth and didn't catch any either. 8-) Quote
Mr. Swabby(aka westtennessee1) Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Looks like a great day. I was out on Friday with my son and could not buy a bite. One fish all day, about 2lbs. Yellow Creek and main lake up north focusing on points... Where did you guys focus? Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 21, 2011 Super User Posted March 21, 2011 Nice looking fish, even thought they are only " green".........but so are dolphin, lol. Quote
jayTEEell44 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I went last March in hopes of catching some Smallmouth. I had heard from numerous places that there are tons of big smallies there. We did just like you did though, caught about a gazillion little Largemouths but no Smallmouths. It seemed that if you pulled up on some rip-rap, you were pretty much guaranteed at least 5 fish. It was a whole lot of fun catching them though! Quote

The bass were chasing shad in open water, not related to any specific cover or structure. We covered a lot of water fan casting square billed crankbaits. 8-) Quote
