fishingkidPA Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I was fishing for around 3 hours today in a cold front, the water was probably around 40 degrees and i was first using a jerkbait but had no luck, i decided to slow down and fish a brush hog on a texas rig and i felt "thump..thump.......thump.thump....thump" waited a second and gave it a hard hookset and reeled this boy in, i was fishing a small lake and it feels pretty good when your 15 and out fished some old timers ;D Quote
Fishmaster10 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Nice job, it always feels good to break in new equipment Quote

Nice catch! Congrats. Quote
fishingkidPA Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 haha i was suprised myself, after the first 2 thumps i pulled just a little to see if his weight was on but nothing, the next to i felt his wieght so i lowered my rod and set the hook, i was scared he was gonna be gut hooked but right in the corner of the mouth ;D Quote
Missouribassman95 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Nice! What's the name of the baitcaster? Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted March 22, 2011 Super User Posted March 22, 2011 Good job homie. I. Still remember my first baitcaster fish. Keep up the good work. Quote
Super User deep Posted March 22, 2011 Super User Posted March 22, 2011 Good show buddy. I still remember my first BC bass, came on a spinnerbait. I was just practicing casting, so I was burning the SB back without working it. I was hugely surprised when a little bass, not much bigger than the 1/2 oz bait, ate it. Quote
bassman018 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 good job man, im 15 too and I will be 16 soon btu this year I dewcided to buy my first BC and caught a nice sized bass on it as the first fish this summer on it with a horny toad, of course i have caught some more on it through the year but I love bait caster now Quote
Rangerphil Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Great job! Also very happy to see some young PA boys getting into bass fishing!!! Keep up the good work! Quote
fishingkidPA Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 Nice! What's the name of the baitcaster? nothing special, got it at dicks, field and stream verado 601 combo. i think i got it around 80$ bucks or so, it was that or the abu garcia combo. asked some guys who had experience w/ baitcasters and told me to get the field and stream, i was surprised and though its not to expensive i find it quite nice, but looking to upgrade later in the year if i find the money. saint romain Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I made the switch to a BC when I was about your age, somewhere in there (not that I'm much older at 20)...its hard to pick up any kind of other reel after, I fished with ambassadeurs for the longest time...finally bought another spinning setup Quote
fishingkidPA Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 yea, i dont mind small ultra light spinning outfits but when you get spinning outfits for bass they seem to be more uncomfortable to hold and cast compared to BC's Quote
BlackBass19 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I also converted to a BC recently because throwing 1/2 ounce jigs, crankbaits, spinnerbatis, etc. with Medium spinning gear is a PITA. Congrats on you first bass with the Bait caster. Quote
